Aunque los miembros de esta mesa final no son tan jóvenes como los de 2008, hay un factor que se hace evidente: el promedio de los concursantes del WSOP es cada vez de menor edad. Estamos contentos de que Kevin Schaffel esté aún en competencia. De 51 años, el estadounidense de Coral Springs es el abuelo de la competencia, pero por lo mismo es uno de los jugadores más experimentados de la mesa final. Ha sido jugador de cartas desde los 11 años. Durante 30 años fue dueño de un taller de pintura y antes de venderlo, se había consagrado como un jugador de poker semi-profesional.<\/p>

De todos modos, hasta el evento principal del WSOP en este año, su éxito en los eventos principales WSOP había sido un poco limitado. Hasta ahora su mayor logro había sido ganar 60.000 dólares<\/b> por haber quedado en la cuadragésimo segunda posición del evento principal del WSOP 2004. Pero desde que se aseguró 1.2 millones de dólares por el noveno puesto, las cosas parecen haber dado un giro.<\/p>

Por su fantástica segunda posición en el Legends of Poker de 10.000 dólares, recibió 471.670 dólares<\/b>. En octubre, Schaffel, jugó el EPT de Londres y consiguió entrar en los premios, recibiendo 27.000 dólares <\/b>por su décimo novena posición. Con 47 años, Steven Begleiter tiene su puesto al lado de Schaffel. La mesa final es el primer gran éxito en un evento masivo del antiguo ejecutivo inversionista bancario. El neoyorquino obtuvo su primera experiencia en el WSOP del año pasado, donde jugó también el evento principal, pero quedó eliminado antes de llegar a los premios.<\/p>

Una vez más, en este año Begleiter subrepticiamente anticipando que iba a ser enviado a casa en los primeros niveles del evento principal, no le avisó a su actual jefe que iba a ir a Las Vegas a participar del WSOP. Pero cuando progresó en el evento, no lo pudo ocultar más. El apoyo y el apreció de sus colegas fue deslumbrante, dijo Begleiter.<\/p>

El sábado, regresará a la mesa final, teniendo 30 millones en fichas y, por esto, en una muy buena posición. Sólo Eric Buchman y, por supuesto, el líder indiscutible Darvin Moon, tienen más fichas que Begleiter. Además, su posición sobre Phil Ivey y los otros jugadores cortos en fichas, también puede favorecerle.<\/p>

En el sitio del WSOP, sólo el 1.1% de los votantes confiaron en que iba a quedarse con el título; pero este es sólo un porcentaje del que Begleiter quiere sacar ventaja. Recibir el dinero o ser el campeón no son sus metas principales, pero sí lo es ver la expresión de los jóvenes cuando gane la mesa final. Así sería ocho millones de dólares más rico y tampoco sería algo malo.<\/p>

Eric Buchman, de Nueva York, nació en 1980 y es considerado uno de los secretos favoritos a llevarse el título. Con casi 35 millones en fichas, tiene el segundo puesto en el conteo y sus anteriores logros hablan por sí mismos.<\/p>

Esta mesa final sería su décimo logro en el WSOP. A este logro, le podríamos agregar cuatro cobros en el WPT y la victoria del evento principal, de 2.500 dólares, del New England Poker Classics 2004, donde recibió 275.400 dólares<\/b>. También quedó en el segundo puesto del Circuito WSOP Atlantic City en el 2007, por lo que ganó 208.666 dólares<\/b>.<\/p>

En el WSOP de este año, quedó en el sexto puesto del evento Omaha\/7 Card Stud Hi\/Lo, con una entrada de 2.500 dólares. Al igual que una décima posición en el evento Limit Hold'em de 10.000 dólares. En total, Buchman se ha ganado hasta la fecha 2.222.224 dólares<\/b> en torneos.<\/p>

Como los otros finalistas, la mesa final ya le ha dado a Buchman 1.2 millones de dólares y 6.2 millones más aún esperan al ganador. Con su gran cantidad de fichas y su experiencia, Buchman es uno de los serios rivales para Phil Ivey. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
