\nAlgunos cronistas de la cadena televisiva ESPN<\/b> cayeron en la
\ncuenta de lo difícil que resulta llegar a un listado con los diez
\nmejores jugadores de poker del mundo para el año 2009. Y es que la
\nactividad de los profesionales es muy diversa. Mientras que otras
\ndisciplinas cuentan con ligas reconocidas como las principales en el
\nmundo, el terreno en el que los mejores jugadores de poker prueban su valor es
\nmucho más variado.\n

Algunos torneos como el Evento Principal de las WSOP, la Gran Final del
\nEPT o el WPT Five Diamonds Classic están reconocidos como los más
\nimportantes, pero hasta ahí sólo estamos abarcando el poker en vivo,
\nlimitándonos por lo general al Texas Holdem, entre muchas otras
\nvariantes de poker, y no se estaría considerando el juego en las mesas
\nde cash.<\/p>\n

¿Cómo abordar entonces una variedad tan amplia? La gente de ESPN tuvo dos ideas
\npara que conozcamos un Top 10: limitar las consideraciones a la
\nactividad del año 2009 y recurrir a la colaboración de algunos de los
\nexpertos trabajando en los principales medios de comunicación dedicados
\nal poker en el mundo.<\/p>\n

A estos \"miembros del jurado\" se les pidió que colocaran en orden a
\nquienes consideran los diez mejores jugadores del año, sin importar en
\nqué área del poker se destacaron los profesionales en cuestión.<\/p>\n

Ivey, el mejor de todos
\n<\/h2>\n

De los siete seleccionadores, seis coincidieron en otorgar el primer puesto a Phil Ivey<\/a>, quien tuvo un 2009 excelente, logrando dos brazaletes WSOP<\/b>, una primera aparición en la Mesa Final del Evento Principal<\/b>, en el que finalizó en 7º lugar, y se cuenta entre los jugadores más ganadores de 2009 en las mesas de límites altos de Full Tilt Poker<\/a>.<\/p>\n

El único jurado que no seleccionó a Ivey para la primera posición, colocó en ese sitio a Yevgeniy Timoshenko<\/b>, quien logró entrar en este Top 10 ubicado en el 10º lugar. La joven estrella tuvo un año notable, ganó en abril el World Poker Tour (WPT) Championship<\/b>, logró un puesto 25 en el Evento Principal de las WSOPE y se quedó con el Evento Principal de las WCOOP<\/b> de PokerStars<\/a>.<\/p>\n

En el segundo puesto de este listado, que fue bautizado como \"The Nuts\", quedó Patrik Antonius<\/b>. El highroller <\/i>finés fue, junto a Ivey<\/a>, otro de los jugadores que animaron la reciente acción en las revolucionadas mesas de límites altos de Full Tilt Poker<\/a> desde la llegada del enigmático \"Isildur1<\/i>\". Otra marca destacada de este profesional fue el haber conseguido el mayor bote de la historia del poker en Internet<\/b>, por valor de $1,3 millones<\/b>.\n<\/p><\/div>
