Esta semana GGPoker ha anunciado que enviará al menos 600 jugadores al Evento Principal de la World Series of Poker<\/strong> mediante satélites online. El año pasado enviaron alrededor de 300, por lo que básicamente estarán duplicando sus clasificados en este 2023.<\/p>

Si el Evento Principal de este año coincide con el torneo del 2022 en términos de participantes, eso significaría que el 7% del 'field' se habría clasificado a través de GGPoker.<\/p>

Es una estadística emocionante y frustrante a la vez. Hemos visto en el PSPC y en el WPT World Championship que enviar más aficionados a los grandes eventos beneficia a todos. Sin embargo, el número total de clasificados online para el Evento Principal debería ser mucho mayor. En algún momento, la WSOP o la industria en general se olvidaron de la clasificación online.<\/p>

Todos los sitios solían ofrecer satélites<\/h2>

Hubo un tiempo en el que todas las grandes operadoras organizaban clasificatorios online y también tenían sus propias \"salas VIP\" en el Rio. Sólo PokerStars envió más de 2.000 clasificados en el 2008, casi un tercio de los participantes.<\/p>

Se trataba, por supuesto, de la época del boom del póker que quizá no podamos repetir, pero la WSOP cambiaron a un modelo que sólo permitía a los socios aprobados (sobre todo WSOP.com y 888poker, y más tarde GGPoker) ofrecer satélites. Otras operadoras podían hacerlo, pero no podían llamarlos \"satélites de la WSOP\" ni comprar entradas para el evento en nombre de los jugadores.<\/p>

Estos no fueron los únicos problemas. Las salas de póker vieron reducidas sus oportunidades de patrocinio en lo que respecta a la contratación de jugadores para la retransmisión del Evento Principal, por lo que ofrecer satélites resultaba menos atractivo. Sospecho que la economía de los bancajes también redujo la demanda de satélites: ¿para qué intentar clasificarse si en lugar de eso te podían bancar?<\/p>

Sean cuales sean los obstáculos, hay algo especial en que un clasificado online lo haga bien en el torneo objetivo. Hemos visto esta magia en el Campeonato Mundial PSPC y en el WPT, y también en la reciente serie Triton, en la que Mark Rubbathan se clasificó para el Mystery Bounty de high stakes y lo ganó<\/a>. <\/p>

El póker está en auge, podría ser aún mayor<\/h2>

Tengo un gran interés en ello. He escrito un libro sobre satélites y, sin duda, un aumento de la actividad de los satélites se traducirá en un aumento de las ventas. Lo que más me enorgullece como escritor es que alguien nos escriba para decirnos que se ha clasificado para un gran evento gracias a ese libro.<\/p>

Es una verdadera situación de beneficio mutuo, no sólo para nosotros, los autores, y para el jugador; sino también para el operador. Varios operadores nos han dicho que creen que su tráfico de satélites ha aumentado desde que publicamos Poker Satellite Strategy<\/a>, lo que probablemente se deba a que se han vendido muchos ejemplares. Lo que quiero decir es que el simple hecho de volver a prestar más atención a los satélites hará que los juegue más gente.<\/p>

El póker está en auge ahora mismo, especialmente el póker en vivo. Con el renovado interés por el póker presencial, parece que deberíamos dedicar más tiempo a impulsar los satélites online. Es estupendo que GGPoker envíe a tantos jugadores este año y tienen muchas posibilidades de convertirse en los campeones de este año (si lo consiguen, recibirán un millón de dólares extra).<\/p>

No quiero ofender a GGPoker, pero me gustaría que las WSOP eliminaran la exclusividad y las barreras que tienen para hacer de los satélites una opción para todas las operadoras online. Los satélites online siguen siendo una de las mejores herramientas de marketing orgánico que tenemos en el póker<\/strong> y no las estamos utilizando tan bien como deberíamos.<\/p>
