La semana pasada entrevisté al jugador de Super High Roller Sam Grafton<\/a> y le pregunté si era difícil mover dinero de un lado a otro en los eventos de Triton. Me contestó que los jugadores de high stakes estructuran sus bancas en torno a la accesibilidad, lo cual tiene sentido.<\/p>

La razón por la que le pregunté fue porque era un tema que me preocupaba mucho. Últimamente he observado muchos casos que ponen de manifiesto lo difícil que es la gestión del dinero para los jugadores de póker.<\/strong><\/p>

En el mismo evento, estaba con un amigo que luchaba por deshacerse de las libras escocesas. Para los que no lo sepan, por alguna extraña razón, aunque un billete inglés de £20 y un billete escocés de £20 son la misma moneda legal, algunos lugares de Inglaterra no aceptan los billetes escoceses. A menudo también nos negamos a aceptar billetes de £50 porque son \"demasiado grandes\" (aunque gracias a la inflación esto no será un problema durante mucho tiempo).<\/p>

Después de la WSOP, tuve la suerte de ganar algunas 'prop bets' en la apuesta cruzada Tice\/Becker y también tuve una parte de alguien que llegó muy lejos en el Evento Principal. El problema fue que la única forma de conseguir el dinero de mi apuesta era en criptomonedas que no entendía y el jugador del que compré una parte era canadiense. Terminé perdiendo criptomonedas en un intercambio debido a un error tonto de mi parte y con mi amigo canadiense tuve que esperar hasta esta semana para que su banco liberase el cheque (y un 25% más no lo voy a tener hasta el próximo año por razones fiscales).<\/p>

Volviendo a mi tierra natal, aquí en el Reino Unido han introducido recientemente leyes KYC muy estrictas. La semana pasada estuve en un casino de Londres y me sorprendió la cantidad de preguntas que tuve que responder para entrar (antes bastaba con mostrar un documento de identidad y hacerse una foto) y en Internet todas las salas en las que juego tienen límites estrictos de depósito o de pérdidas. Esto ha dificultado mis intenciones de subir niveles<\/strong> porque, aunque mi banca puede soportar fácilmente la pérdida de 20 buy-ins de mi nueva nivel, me está costando mucho convencer de ello al gobierno del Reino Unido.<\/p>

Estas son sólo algunas pequeñas historias, pero hasta este mes no me he dado cuenta de cuántas de ellas escucho todo el tiempo en el póker. Por suerte para mí, no soy jugador profesional de póker, pero todo esto me ha hecho pensar recientemente en lo difícil que es realmente para ellos. Si los vaivenes y los retos del juego no son lo suficientemente duros, el manejo del dinero podría ser la habilidad secreta que separa a los grandes ganadores de la gente que abandona.<\/strong><\/p>

En un juego en el que el dinero es la forma de llevar la cuenta, los problemas de liquidez pueden ser el mayor obstáculo a superar. Los apostadores deportivos tienen un problema similar: inevitablemente, les prohíben la entrada en las casas de apuestas y en las casas de apuestas deportivas online por ganar demasiado, así que la habilidad que tienen que dominar es convencer a la gente en la que pueden confiar para que apueste por ellos (lo que se conoce en inglés como \"Beard\").
