Played this tournament on a whim, decided to try it out and see the caliber of player at this level. I played extremely well, only put my money in when I was ahead and maintained a good stack trough out the tournament. I was especially proud of a call I made against the chip leader that was very aggressive throughout the entire final table.

      Here is the hand.

      Full Tilt Poker Game #25762354219: $8 + $0.80 Tournament (199829547), Table 2 - 1200/2400 Ante 300 - No Limit Hold'em - 00:46:15 ET - 2010/11/22
      Seat 1: Tman85 (84,728)

      techfan5764 bets 25,000

      Tman85 shows [9d 9h] a pair of Nines
Tman85 wins the pot (104,000) with a pair of Nines

As you can see I made a pretty ridiculous read on the river putting him on rags. My reasoning is that with the K he would have defended it way more aggressively on the flop with a flush draw. so on the river knowing he was aggressive I felt ahead.

On a less then spectacular note I lost to a 2 outer on the river heads up. For your viewing pleasure here is the hand :P

Nice one. Its a great feeling when ever you manage to final table any of the bigger MTTs. Not to mention a nice boost to your roll.

In the future if you post hands from tournaments use deuces cracked hand converter since i think pokerstrategy hand converter doesn't support mtt's.

8 dollar mtt wow how much did u win? lol.

Also, i see how u were thinking he would defend his hand against a flush draw, nice, ill have to start thinking in that way, i didnt think too much like that, somewhat new to me...hmm.

The betting was very suspicious. My feel was he was either slow playing a set of 7s or 10s Or he had absolutely nothing on the flop. Knowing this guy was aggressive it weird to see him check the flop. I was obviously Inclined to think he was slow playing on the turn when he raised me on the turn but I called to get more information and because the raise was so suspect. On the river he bet half the pot. In my opinion with a set he would have value bet the river not made a bet trying to steal it, considering there was no flush and a very unlikely straight. All this information resulted in me making the call of the tournament.

nice this is some helpful information, i dont focus that deeply on my opponents hands, this is a step higher than how i think so it helps, ill focus more on what exactly the other person holds and how they bet it.

You should never focus on specific hands but rather a range of hands yur opponent could possibly hold. Then try and analyse why they make certain bets and let that information narrow the hand range till you can put them on a small enough range of hands to make an educated decision. This skill is what separates good and great poker players. Try it at lower limits till you get it down.

      Best of luck!
