I'm gonna visit vegas for a few days

      need some advice on:
      1) which casinos are good, good rake structure, soft opponents etc
      2) how high should I play? can i play 10/20 there and beat it? or 5/10?
I play mostly NL200 and 400 but have some 600/1000 experience online
      3) any other tips for live play - not completely new to playing live in casinos and home games but anything would be great

      thanks

for the games your after, it's pretty simple. bellagio, aria, wynn, venetian.

each of those rooms has good and bad points, u'll find soft and harder games at them all.

personal preferance, i like the poker room at the wynn, when i was there earlier this year there were games upto 10/20 or so, rake is pretty consistant throughout the 'real' rooms in vegas (as in the ones that dont do bad beat/high hand jackpots and other stuff like that).

you'll also find some rooms (such as the nugget downtown) dont set a max buy in, so if you like playing 1000bb deep, u could try going into one of those games and buying in for like 10x or somthing like that.

feel free to skype me or reply here if u wanna know anything else, or about any rooms in particular.

oh i should mention, venetian is one of the only rooms where u can get free red bull when you play.

Venetian and Belliagio have large poker rooms and have most central strip locations. If you beat NL100/NL200 online you beat NL1k-NL2k live.

Yea, venetian/bellagio definitely has the most action.

I spent most of the time at the Palms, the poker room is a nice place to watch the girlies walk to and from the pool. ;) Might not be so awesome now tho, since its winter.

you can go to the casino cashier and exchange for like 2x5k chips if you don't want to carry cash around. But dropping one of those would be a sick beat.

Make sure that if you travel from outside the US to not take more than $10k or fill in some form.

Venetian has a pokerrate, but that means you will have to play a lot of poker when you're there.

if ur after cheap accommodation, check out the IP or harrahs. it's a short walk from there to any of the big rooms on the strip, and a 5min taxi ride to the hard rock as well.

most/all casino's will have safe's in the room, or the cage will have lock boxes where you can leave stuff. if for example, your playing at the bellagio and staying at the venetian, take all ur monies to bellagio, put in safe deposit box and leave it there, and just take it out when u need to play ;)

Imperial Palace is awful. Riviera is nice, it is about 10-15 min walk north from strip.

IP suites are cheaper than a basic room at bellagio, and for it's location it's hard to beat.

the suites arn't too bad, the $20 trick will get u in a really great room

last time i was in vegas i played mostly in mgm and venetian....played in mgm simply because i was staying there....i like the setting of the mgm poker room and there was a cuple of pretty soft nl500 tables which are easily beatable. the place i enjoyed the most was the Venetian, a much busier room than mgm certainly. most of the game seem to be 1/2 nl so if your looking to play higher id be hitting up bellagio or wynn!enjoy yourself!
