I bought an HTC Desire HD recently. Battery life is terrible - I'm lucky if it lasts all day, I certainly wouldn't recommend it although it's a great phone for RUSH Mobile!

My buddy has the Samsung and loves it.

working at a phone shop atm.

      my recommendations

budget minded: HTC wildfire, £130-200 , i got staff discount on mine :P

happy to spend lots of cash so you can play games:

HTC desire HD, Iphone 4, Samsung Galaxy S.

Galaxy S is probably most cost effective of the bunch.

      epic win

if you intend to play rush mobile make sure the phone supports flash 10.1 before you buy it. ( 1ghz processor required i think) desire or any phone with snapdragon is a good bet, eg samsung galaxy S.

can u answer me pls what the f*** is wrong with nokia? They used to make great quality phones, but now they are stuck at symbian os which is horribly slow and buggy. I personally have a 5800xm and thats the first and last nokia ill ever buy.

I do like the iPhone but I think the rest are catching up fast + it will cost me £299 for the iPhone 4 but I can get most of the phones in the list for free, so I can trade-in my 3GS for £180 and have money left over :D

By 'catching up' you mean? Design?

As for battery life I hear it is terrible on most smartphones.

As in when the iphone come out it was so far ahead of what was available at the time.
But the new phones are catching up (if not ahead in some areas) as in they're not as restricted, like the iphone is.

Anyway got the Samsung Galaxy S today, as my iphone decided to stop working on Sunday night (there goes my £180 trade-in :( )

I checked the time on it and put it back in my pocket, half hour later I when to when to make a call it wasn't on and won't turn on X(

I'm uncertain myself, trying to decide between the i9000 and the Desire HD. Desire HD is plain solid, whereas the i9000 has the novelty factor

nokia are in a similar state the microsoft was when it decided the pentium 4 was good.

essentially, they got cocky because they were top dog, and didnt spend much money getting patents/ innovating.

its now biting them in the ass. essentially even if they want to create competative phones; they can't do so without paying huge licence fees for competing technology/technology they do not own.
