      Hello.

Recently I wanted to start using Elephant but I encourage a problem I cannot solve by any measures.
My HD capacity is low so for PostgreSQL database I use database located on an online server. Thing is that the database login has to be:

      MyWebServeAlias_DatabaseName

which in case of Elephant is impossible to use cos I can't write "_" sign in any imaginable way while writing database login.

      So there are my questions:
Is there any way to do so?
If not will that be fix in any near future?

      My regards
      Marcin Menzyk

      Hey musashi87,

so you are not able to create a database with the username "abc_cba" because the username field does not accept the "_".

I can reproduce this 'problem' and i'll forward this to my colleagues.

      Hi there,

is it working when you remove the "_" out of your databasename?

      Thx,
      L

      Hello

It is working with a database on my HD, cos that database login is without special signs. But I don't wanna use it. 50k hands in database is almost 1GB on my hard disk. And I can't spare more that 2-3GB for this.
I have a database on a server without capacity limitation but there I can't chose my database login freely. I can only use a database login:

      MyWebServeAlias_DatabaseName

      This is compulsory
      This I can change

so for example if my alias was Musashi and I chose database name Elephant the database login would be:
      Musashi_Elephant

BTW sorry for my English I hope everything is written clear.

It's exactly as U say. U can't add in Elephant database that has "_" in the username.

I tried ether way writing it from keyboard or copy-pasting whole username or just the sign "_".

You mean you can not change this (the compulsory naming convention), right?

It would be a major rework for us to allow a single underscore in the database or user name. Indeed we will rework the database management some day, but I can't tell anything about the when. But we'll make sure to allow special characters then.

But for now, besides a local harddisk, the only way I see is to take a WebServer using a more compatible naming convention.

      Sorry,
      L

Yes, The red part is given by the provider and I can't change it.
So I'll have to buy the PT3 then...
I hope it will be fixed someday. :f_frown:

Thx for info and have a nice day.

      Hello there,

I have good news for you. We've added the Elephant support for special chars like minus (-) and underscrore (_) to the database credentials. The changes will be part of the next Elephant build (v0.99) available via our dev blog.

      Cheers,
      L
