Hand recorder used for this poker hand: Elephant.Base 0.96 by www.pokerstrategy.com.

Preflop: Hero is CO with K:spade: , J:diamond:
4 folds, Hero raises to $0.16, BU folds, SB calls $0.14, BB folds.

      Flop: ($0.36) Q:diamond: , 9:diamond: , 7:diamond: (2 players)
SB bets $0.17, Hero calls $0.17.

      Turn: ($0.70) J:heart: (2 players)

      River: ($1.50) J:club: (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $0.64, SB calls $0.64.

      Final Pot: $2.78

      Results follow (highlight to see):
Hero shows three-of-a-kind, jacks (Ks Jd)
      SB shows (Kh Qs)

Hero wins with three-of-a-kind, jacks (Ks Jd)

Flop: Think he either has a weak Q or at least a Q he could lay down to aggression I think. Or he might have a high diamond trying to see a cheap card?

Turn: Bet bigger here? More value from an A/K of diamonds and more fold equity for a Q?

River: Now I guess I should value bet bigger vs a Q that might call now since the board paired?

My evaluation ok for this hand or am I off the mark?

      Thanks

      Hello Jeffers16,

Actually I don't like the bet on turn, since we also now have showdown value, I'd rather just Check it behind on turn and take the pot control. Otherwise I'd definitely bet it for value on river and maybe even $1.

      Best regards.

How to decide value bet size on river? Standard value bet from articles is ~1/2 pot although against loose players it may increase, but in this spot we use bigger value bet because off hand deception?

I decide the value bet size according the opponent, if I see him being very bad player and also capable of calling with a lot worse then I usually increase it. Sometimes when we have nuts and I see him even Calling the shove then we might even could consider to do that. :)
