A little bit about myself to begin, I am a 23 yo full time uni student from Singapore. Started playing poker with a couple of friends on pokerstrategy with the more famous one being supeyrio the sick grinder(seriously, ptr him).

After a shared blog of ours broke down, I took a break from poker for a while going on a downswing.

Realizing that poker is really a possible avenue I might consider pursuing in life, I'm back with a new mission!

      Introducing Project EXCHANGE.

Basically the low down is, I am going on exchange sometime next year Feb. I hope to earn enough to pay for it on my own.

      Target amount:$10000.

While I do not know if it is achievable, I will just work hard towards that goal and hope I fall somewhere in that region.

I am currently grinding nl5 after playing nl2 for a week to get my mindset and gameplay back to acceptable level instead of donking money away. I most probably will keep a more than conservative bankroll for now and will be moving up to nl10 after making 20 BIs on nl5. Currently sitting on 11BIs so hopefully, it is not that far off.

      Graph since I came back,

With this blog to keep my discipline, I hope to meet a few goals set for myself.

      1) Grind 1k-2k hands/day
      2) Evaluate each session after I am done
      3) Post interesting/funny hands
      3) Make new friends through this blog and hopefully, be more immersed in the awesome pokerstrategy community. :f_biggrin:

Will post as often as I can to update on my progress!

Just finished an 1.5hr session. Decided to take a break and evaluate my play as there were a few problem spots that I was not sure if my play made sense, resulting in a few losses.

      Hand 1
Hand converted with online PokerStrategy.com hand converter:

      Play hand

      $0.02/$0.05 No-Limit Hold'em (9 handed)

      Known players:
      BU:
      $5.79
      SB:
      $7.01
      BB:
      $12.87
      UTG1:
      $3.13
      UTG2 (Hero):
      $5.02
      MP1:
      $2.05
      MP2:
      $2.93
      MP3:
      $18.03
      CO:
      $13.08

      Preflop: Hero is UTG2 with K, A.
      UTG1 calls $0.05, Hero raises to $0.25, 2 folds, MP3 raises to $0.45, 4 folds, UTG1 calls $0.40, Hero calls $0.20.

      Flop: ($1.42) 8, 7, J (3 players)
      UTG1 checks, Hero checks, MP3 bets $0.30, UTG1 calls $0.30, Hero raises to $4.57, MP3 calls $4.27, UTG1 calls $2.38.

      Turn: ($13.24) 2 (3 players)

      River: ($13.24) 2 (3 players)

      Final Pot: $13.24.

      Results follow:

      MP3 shows a full-house, jacks full of twos(Jh Js).
Hero shows a pair of twos(Kd Ad).
UTG1 shows two pairs, aces and twos(Ac Ah).

MP3 wins with a full-house, jacks full of twos(Jh Js).

My thinking was I had fold equity against most hands and was hoping MP3 had AA, KK, or QQ and UTG had some pair he would fold. Even if i do get called, i would have quite a number of outs.

      Hand 2
Hand converted with online PokerStrategy.com hand converter:

      Play hand

      $0.02/$0.05 No-Limit Hold'em (8 handed)

      Known players:
      BU:
      $3.56
      SB:
      $1.58
      BB (Hero):
      $6.55
      UTG2:
      $3.03
      MP1:
      $1.22
      MP2:
      $5.10
      MP3:
      $2.27
      CO:
      $4.52

Preflop: Hero is BB with 9, 9.
4 folds, CO raises to $0.15, 2 folds, Hero raises to $0.45, CO calls $0.30.

      Flop: ($0.92) 6, 2, 3 (2 players)
Hero bets $0.50, CO calls $0.50.

      Turn: ($1.92) 2 (2 players)
Hero bets $0.95, CO raises to $2.22, Hero calls $1.27.

      River: ($6.36) J (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets $1.35, Hero calls $1.35.

      Final Pot: $9.06.

      Results follow:

Hero shows two pairs, nines and twos(9c 9d).
CO shows two pairs, kings and twos(Ks Kc).

CO wins with two pairs, kings and twos(Ks Kc).

My only thinking here was AGGROFISH. Villian was 50/18 fish. With my overpair, I thought the fish would overplay a lot of hands, AK, AQ, AJ, KJ, basically loads of overcards. His aggression was 5 and 7 on turn and river.

      Hand 3
Hand converted with online PokerStrategy.com hand converter:

      Play hand

      $0.02/$0.05 No-Limit Hold'em (5 handed)

      Known players:
      CO (Hero):
      $4.95
      BU:
      $1.33
      SB:
      $3.95
      BB:
      $2.95
      MP3:
      $5.25

Preflop: Hero is CO with J, J.
MP3 folds, Hero raises to $0.15, BU calls $0.15, SB raises to $3.95, BB folds, Hero calls $3.80, BU calls $1.18.

      Flop: ($9.28) 2, 7, K (3 players)

      Turn: ($9.28) 7 (3 players)

      River: ($9.28) 9 (3 players)

      Final Pot: $9.28.

      Results follow:

Hero shows two pairs, jacks and sevens(Jd Js).
SB shows two pairs, queens and sevens(Qd Qh).
BU shows two pairs, kings and sevens(8d Kc).

BU wins with two pairs, kings and sevens(8d Kc).

Right before this hand, I ran my AK vs villian's 66. Which he won. Then this happen. :f_frown:

Would anyone fold if this happened?

hi nice blog! keep it going :f_biggrin:

      @hand 1:
"My thinking was I had fold equity against most hands and was hoping MP3 had AA, KK, or QQ and UTG had some pair he would fold. Even if i do get called, i would have quite a number of outs."

you have no FE vs QQ+. at your limits(even higher limits) they are just going to go all in anyway. the correct thinking is, you raise AK for value since you have strong equity vs their range which can consist of many pairs, gutshots and even dominating their flushdraws.

@hand2: if you think he's aggro, why dont let him try bluff you off turn and river? but your line is definitely fine

      @hand3: standard.

@supey Thanks for the analysis! I guess the first hand that was what I was thinking, just articulated it wrongly. Thanks for the evaluations! Will post more problem spots as they come up!

Did not grind today due to my heavy workload, but watched a video. Or half listened to a video while doing work. Shall resume my grind tmr!

Tasks accomplished since yesterday till now:

      1 Proposal
      1 Homework Assignment
      1 Case study
      1 Quiz

School is sucking away my life. Luckily, that abouts conclude what needs to be done this week. After class today, the grind resumes.

Hope to put in 3k hands today at least.

Then it is off for training. Will update once today's session ends!

@mbml I was considering that place too! But have not confirmed my place yet. Will only get to apply in May, seeing that I am going next year. Y3 Sem2. Hopefully, it will coincide with a certain someone's BM initiation.

Played 3k hands before i went for training, had supper and m back home! Lost 1 BI but overall, there were a few spots i thought i was quite a donkey to call. Oh well, HEM is screwing up for me now. So i will just review the hands tomorrow before I start my daily grind. Cheers!

Hero shows a pair of kings(Kc Ah).
BB shows three of a kind, nines(9h 9s).

BB wins with three of a kind, nines(9h 9s).

I sort of did put him on the set. However, I could not get away from my TPTK with fd on board. His stats was 31/17 with Agression 5.4 on flop and 16 on turn. Maybe I should had considered how deep I was.

CO shows two pairs, aces and sixs(Ad Ac).

CO wins with two pairs, aces and sixs(Ad Ac).

His steal % is 37%. Now looking back at this hand, I most prob will be playing with 2 overcards for a flip or an overpair that dominates me. Bad play on my part I guess..

Tough call in my opinion. Push on the flop, could had been sets, straights, but factor in fds, middle pairs, overcards and gutshot straight draws with an A, I talked myself into a call.

One more update is through a conversation with a friend whose place I am staying over at now. We talked about poker and I realise I do see the point of some lessons learnt through what he say, but I do not internalise them. For example, why am I calling 3bets after another caller? Is the call 20 rule in place? Also, Why am I betting my Ax when there is a chance of being dominated? I should just call it down as if I bet, only the A would call me. However, if I pass initiative to him, he might bet with more bullshit like pairs and such.

Question for today: When is it better to check behind when you do hit your Ax?

Did a 3k session and still feel that I am a donkey. I have improved my play quite a bit but my mindset still needs more working and tweaking on. Need to learn more from TwiceT and adapt his mindset. I think I am not someone who tilts, but I do check my winnings quite a lot during my grinding session. While I think it would not affect me, subconsciously,I guess it does.

When I was playing poker last time, I identified that sd was a big problem for me. I was not playing to bring hands to showdown. While I am not better at that, I am still not thinking enough, how to extract value. Another problem is when to fold hands. These 2 problems saw me stuck at nl10 and now, I see it being my stumbling block again. But no way am I going to let it stop me again!

      Problems:
Not able to extract value when having a hand
Not able to fold hands when beaten.

Both stems from me only playing my own hands, not analyzing the person, possible hand ranges and board texture.

      Solution?
Maybe it is time to think more. Before calling any shove, think.
If that does not work, I guess it is time to not play 24 tables and slow down.

I put him on AJ and thought I was good, being affected by my own hand I guess.. Bad call on the river seeing he is a 21/5 with aggression 2, Did not even considered he could be in the 8.

He's a donk calling the flop, I am a BIGGER DONK. Because I saw my straight, did not even consider that there was a higher straight on board. Seeing he is a calling station, I should had called the 3 bet if i wanted to see the river.

The small turn bet was to induced a call because I thought I was ahead and was going to shove the river. Any Aces would had shoved preflop, and that was what I thought till the river came and I thought hmmm, maybe he has hit with AQ, fml that really was what happened.

Well, life goes on and I will continue playing at least 2k hands a day, in a bid to spot mistakes, correct them and one day, make it to become a high stakes grinder.

Good day to all of u reading!

Had a 2k session where I had to fold so many hands, lost flips and bad beats. Will review a couple of hands now.

Against a fish's shove on the flop? Putting him on Kx, I had enough equity to call I guess. At best, I had 12 outs, at worse, 9 even if he hits the top of his range of sets.

Bad 3 barrel by me. But his WTSD was 27%. I thought I could get him to fold Qx hands or small pairs.

Did a short session of 1.6k hands. Played well and did not get bad beat. Here are a few hands.

      Hand 1

      Hand 2
I was valuing my hand with the river bet. Was scared of the last K that's why I did not shove. Should it been a shove? He would call with any A like what he had, And I would had called a shove by him anyway.

      Hand 3
I was thinking here, I have an overpair and have showdown value. Therefore I bet the turn hoping for a free showdown. Maybe I should had not bet and instead call small bets on the river? Thought I was ahead till he called the turn bet. Then I knew I was not in a good spot and decided to check it down. Lucky I did not bet. Or else I would just be putting money into his pocket as he wun fold KKs here.

Oh, and I secured my internship today. Through a friend, I will be working at a fitness company. He said I can choose what I want to do and so I hope I can grind while working. :s_biggrin: :s_biggrin: :s_biggrin:

What I would see while on internship:
