Jake on SNG Journey

Hi. (my english's not perfect so plz bare with me :) )
My name is Jaka (u can also call me Jake) I'm kind of new on this forum.
I'm from the little country called sLOVEnia (Central Europe) :D .
I'm playing poker since 2k10. I played lots of different games.
My major prize was winning one of the Full Tilt torunaments 5$ buy-in, about 1600 entrants and main prize was about 1500$.

I started on NL (FR/SH) Cash game, played about a month maybe, than I try FL (FR/SH), I also played SNG (STT, MTT) and I also tried my luck in tournaments. I just wanted to see what works best for me. I had some ups and downs, however I did not play all along 2k10, because, I had some financial hard times. So I cashed out all of the money by the end of sept. 2010 i think (till sept. I played about 150k+ hands).

On 19.jan.2011 I decided to go on "poker journey". My starting BR was only about 20$. So my best shot to build it up was to play STT 2$ SNG on Full Tilt. (On my experience of playing all kind of differend games i mentioned before, It seemed to me that STT SNG type of game is the best way to build it up). The reason I decided to write a blog is to be more organized, stick to my short and long term goals, motivate other players, motivate my self, share experience, and ofcourse to meet some poker friends on my very first
serious journey :) . Special thanks to pokerstrategy coach lessthanthree "<3". When I read his blog (3-5AM), he motivated me so much I hit a
session right after (BTW very successful one :) .

Now lets get down to businnes ;)

My plan was to claim to at least 70 BI of next limit (STT 6,5 SNG) so about 460$

      January (19.jan - 31.jan) Graph: Starting BankRoll = 20$
      Start: 2+0.25$ (STT/FR/Turbo)

      In January I finished:
      1st 47
      2nd 35
      3rd 32
      ROI 20.60; ITM 43.01; Avg Finish 4.45
      out of 268 (STT/T/SNG)
      Net Won 124.20$ + RakeBack 18.09$ = 142,29$

      February (BankRoll 20$ + 142,29$ (MoneyWonInJanuary) = 162,29$

      In February I finished:
      1st 155
      2nd 113
      3rd 95
      AVG ROI 30.28 (2$s 19.65 (692) & 6$s 47.02 (152))
      ITM 43.01; Avg Finish 4.33
      out of 844 (STT/FR/T/SNG); 2$s=692, 6$s=152
      Net Won 770.60$ (2$s - 306$ + 6$s - 464.60) + RakeBack 67,23 = 837,83$
      BankRoll = (Jan+Feb) = 162,29$+837,83$= 1000,12$

      IronMan Status => Bronze

From 1-17 Feb. I played only 2$ SNGs, 17. Feb. my BR was about 470$, so I decided to mix-up 2's and 6's...
I've played (and run) pretty well (as you see on session chart above) so from 18.feb till now I played only 6's.
The thing I would like to add here is when I started to play 6's I allso started to watch SNG videos (since I reach GOLD status on pokerstrategy I watch all PS and FullTilt videos 6+). For a short time I played only 4 tables at once to improve my play and Push/Fold skills. I also played some HeadzUps to improve chances wining SNGs.
I think I made a right choice since my ROI increased ;) ). From 25. feb. I play from 6-9 tables at once and my ROI, didn't crushed so far. However I played a small amount of tournaments so far so its to soon to talk about details. Right now my ROI is extremly high, so I think it will move down after time.

What Can I say... So Far So Good ;)

I'll add just a graph from beginning till now ;)

      1st 165
      2nd 128
      3rd 115
      AVG finish 4.41
      Net Won 430.20$ + RakeBack 64.80$ = 495$

      1st 41
      2nd 20
      3rd 12
      AVG finish 4.06
      Net Won 501.10$ + RakeBack 22.01$ = 523.11$

      Journey Graph (All2Gether)

      1st 206
      2nd 148
      3rd 127
      AVG finish 4.36
      ITM 42.83
      Net Won 931.30$ + RakeBack = about 1050$

... For next limit (11's) I'm planing to grind up to 110 BI => 1320$

I hope you enjoy reading my blog. I'll keep you posted ;)

tnx for your support mate ;) ... I'm glad that your game's gettin' better ;) Try find as many leaks in your game as you can and try to improve it. So if you'll have "bad suck-out session" won't affect it so much. Greetings from Slovenia :D

      same here :)
jap, I have pretty hot start 4 sure.
infect I played Turbos only so far. What limit/speed SNGs do you play?

      Good Luck at the Tables!

I'm playing turbo sng's, have tried regular speed in the beginning of my poker career, but I found out that the late phase of sng is what I like the most, so now i'm playing only turbo one's. And I'm still fighting my way from 2.25$ to 6.5$.

      GL on beating 6s ! :)

Today I had 3 sessions (52SNGs)... Have some bad luck. They was hiting 3 outs like all the time.

one of interesting hands xD :

      Full Tilt - $6+$0.50|150/300 NL - Holdem - 4 players
      Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

      SB: 1,540.00
      BB: 1,730.00
      Hero (UTG): 2,760.00
      BTN: 7,470.00

SB posts SB 150.00, BB posts BB 300.00

      Pre Flop: (450.00) Hero has J:club: J:diamond:

Hero raises to 800.00, BTN calls 800.00, fold, fold

      Flop: (2050.00, 2 players) 4:club: 6:spade: 4:diamond:
Hero bets 1,960.00 and is all-in, BTN calls 1,960.00

      Turn: (5970.00, 2 players) 4:heart:

      BTN wins 5,970.00

BU was very lose-passive. He played like 60/5. So in this hand I wanted to gain a bit value out of my "hooks". But as you see I had some bad luck xD .

don't try to play tricky in those spots. Will only cost you $. Keep up the grinding for the rest. Seems like your doing fine!
