      So I thought I would give this blogging thing a go. Mainly for my own interest, to help track my progress and to help eliminate the mistakes and leaks in my game that I believe are responsible for the current rut I am in.

      I will just add that I have run horribly at the $6.50T STT at FT for some time losing 44 BI over 150 games (running at an impressive -36BB below EV). This basically removed all my profit for the previous 1000games.

      I know its variance and this blog will not be about complaining. Fact is even my ev line is down 8BB over 150 games so i am making mistakes. This blog is about finding those mistake and killing em. But I do need a change and maybe a bit less exposure to variance so I have moved to the $5.50 non turbos. I'm easily bankrolled for this (about 330BI - yes im a BRM nit).

      update - so im starting the blog with a BR of just under $1800. I have been playing for about 2 years. The first year or so i thought i was just unlucky as i slowly gave away my BR at party and stars. The i found this site, got my $50 - and lost it. But it did get me playing on FT which is by far and away my favourite site (software, traffic and beatable). So I put $100 in myself and concentrated on the 18 and 27 man SNG. I move on to the 90man turbos where i have made most of my profit (3.30s, $899 at 26% over 1000 games and $6.50s - $227 at 14% over 248 games).

      Just one more thing before we start. The 'roar' in my name is for the mighty Brisbane ROAR. Football champions of Australia. Last week i flew home for the grandfinal and witness the greatest comback in australian foorball hostory. after having not lost for 27 games, Brisbane were down 2-0 down with 4 minutes of extra time to go. and then this happened:

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsjlD0caUqY&feature=related

      Finished the first session before starting this blog.
      early (and irrelevant) results are:
      Starting BR = $500
      Current = $518
      Profit = $18, EV = $16.33
      games played = 9
      ITM = 55.6%
      ROI = 36.4%

      happy to say that of the four i didnt make the money, three were monster into monster preflop with less than 10BB.
      The other was a basic ICM mistake as follows (note im going to post my mistakes in this blog - sort of as a punishment:

      $150/$300 No-Limit Hold'em (4 handed)

      Known players:

      BB = ($2290.00)
      CO = ($4085.00)
      BU (Hero) = ($1250.00)
      SB = ($5875.00)

      Preflop: Hero is BU with 7 :club: , 8 :diamond: .
      CO folds, Hero raises to $1,250.00(All-In), SB folds, BB calls $950.00.

      Flop: ($2650) 3, 4, 9 (2 players)

      Turn: ($2650) T (2 players)

      River: ($2650) 9 (2 players)

      Final Pot: $2650.

      Off to what i would consider a reasonable good start

      Starting BR (for 5.5s) = $500
      Current (inc RB) = $625.15
      Profit (ex RB) = $121.50, EV = $93.67
      games played = 27
      ITM = 66.7%
      ROI = 81.8%

      very early at the non turbos but after running so bad recently its nice to run good. I like the non-turbos (cant remember why i didnt use to like them). Once thing i have noticed at this level is that people limp or call small bets with very marginal hands and then fall in love with them when they hit second pair or top pair low kicker.

      The two hands i didnt make the money on were AQ (pushing 10BB from utg) against KK. SNG wiz says it was a fold so i guess this is my mistake for this set. Will post in hand evaluation thread though. raising or folding just doesnt seem right. The other was JJ into QQ (very loose big stack) so pretty standard.

      Ok going to play a few sets today. Also have to fix the garden (damn dogs) but to hot outside for that now. Going to update the opening post with some more about me as well

      First set went ok for a small profit. Not luck boxing as much as i did yesterday, but finished in the money 4/10 with 2 wins and 2 thirds. Second set on 3/10 in money (1st, second and a third) for a small loss. Not happy with the way i played and am lucky to get almost even. EV line has gone down heaps due to running into monsters and some questionable play. (calling with a set when his flush was pretty obvious). sets 3-5 were pretty standard. small profit and itm around 50%. ev line is flatlining but i beleive that has more to do with running into monster after monster (and sucking out occasionally :f_p: ).

      Going to vacum the house as punishment :f_frown:

      current results

      Starting BR (for 5.5s) = $500
      Current (inc RB) = $673.63
      Profit (ex RB) = $163.5, EV = $41.86
      games played = 75
      ITM = 50.7%
      ROI = 39.6%

      torn between hating the way i played this hand and thinking maybe worth the risk. Will post in the hand evaulation. fully expect to get answers such as 'what the hell were you thinking'

      yep fellow aussie here. grew up in brisbane but over in perth now helping the big companies rape and pillage our north west in a environmentally 'acceptable' way.

      love your videos btw. certainly responsible for a portion of my winnings to date. almost feel like I should send you some as thanks. almost but not quite......

      Just the one set tonight. Got home late and im not going to play tired!!!!Played ok tonight but maybe a bit to conservative. made some laydowns where just not sure if they were correct (see below). Pretty sure the AQ one is a call.

      Anyway made the money 4/9 for 3 3rds and a ICM split heads up (was just ahead in chips). never split in a SNG before but the guy had to go and didnt feel like a all in with ATC war. Anyway a small loss but a win according to EV so that something.

      Starting BR (for 5.5s) = $500
      Current (inc RB) = $670.89
      Profit (ex RB) = $159.55, EV = $48.88
      games played = 84
      ITM = 50.0%
      ROI = 34.5%

      This hand the CO had just ridiculous stats 4/4 over 75 hands. Then a min raise? looked like KK+ so decided to just fold. any thoughs people?

      Final Pot: $180.

      This guy was stealing blinds but with small raises. the shove looked like a monster to me. any thoughts?

      and one just for laughs to show im allowed to be lucky occasionally as well. serioulsy could i fold this? can't see how.

      again just the one set. only cashed 2/9 my days of running red hot are over for a bit. rivered a few times and ran into qq v kk, aq v ak blind battle and the usual other crap you get in session like this. but can deal with that. Happy with my reaction to the twit who pushed over my AA raised with his red hot 67o and then knocked me out three hands lated called my QQ push with 48s. just closed the table and moved on. three months ago i would have tilted big time.

      just loading up my third set of the night (afternoon) - took a cheeky half day off work today :tongue: .

      one thing i have noticed about the 5.50 regular sngs is there are much less multittable regs. on the turbod you often see 8-15 sngs ready to loand with 2 people already joined. and each SNG has 4-5 multitablers on it. Maybe its the time of the day im playing but in the regulars this doesnt seem to happen. often i'm the only one loading up 9 tables at a time. anyway less regs can only be a good thing i guess.

      current progress

      again just the one set tonight. but resting up for what will be a weekend at the tables (virtual tables anyway). Going to make sure i watch some of the gold videos before i lose my gold status as well. Really happy with the way i am playing and obviously delighted with the results. Still early in the $5.5s but really enjoying the non turbos. starting to regret the many many months playing turbos. I know my current roi is not sustainable but i think something in the order of 13-17% should be at this level.

      Anyway tonight I cashed 5/9 with 2 X 1st, 2 x 2nd and a 3rd. :s_cool:

      current progress
      Starting BR (for 5.5s) = $500

      games played = 139
      ITM = 48.2%
      ROI = 32.5%

      will post my graph if i ever figure out how

      well after running real well at the start, things have gone horriable since. in 200 games i have lost all my profit and am no up just the rakeback. some of it was bad play i will admit but the number of monsters, set over sets, and sucks outs has been pretty unbeleivable. its variance i know but has really really hurt. so im at the point where i have lost all confidence and am starting to make bad decision like giving up +ev shoves becuase i KNOW he has AA. problem is that when i stop myself and say NO its a push, i push and he has AA lol.

      So while i am still easily rolled for the 5.5s im dropping down to the 2.25s for a bit. Hopefully i will see a an upward trending line on HEM and get some confidence back

      well there is an upward line at the 2.25s but ims till running horribly so profits are minimal. My confidence is coming back and i htnk i have plugger a couple of leaks. but going to stay at the 2.25s for a while (at least 500 games) and plug some more before moving up again. So i will start tracking the 2.25s progress here.

      current progress
      Starting BR (for 2.25s) = $250
      Current (inc RB) = $256.75
      Profit (ex RB) = $2.7 EV = $22.74
      games played = 50
      ITM = 34% (ie not enough)
      ROI = 2.4% (ev 20.2%)

      Going to set myseld some goals for april as well:
      - play 750 sng
      - do 3000 hands at wiz
      - watch 5 videos
      - complete full analysis of march using HEM (ie. look at how i play each hand grouping in each sng phase and plug any leaks)
      - post 30 hands in hand evaluation forum

      my suggestion would be to take away the ITM/ROI goal, a lot of variance can come with 750 games and you can play perfectly and still get nowhere near your goals. Make volume, study, mindset goals instead. those are the only things you can control.

      serioulsy rethinking my drop to the 2.25s. the standard of play is different that im not sure if its good for my game. In the set I just played, I folded into the money (ie did not play one hand). went out in third with a standard push.

      But then again i have only played 81 since moving down and am about even (8BI below ev). still running real bad and cooler hands are everywhere. Guess id better stay put :( and see what happens with a decent sample size. *edit* - just played a set of 10 and shipped it for four wins and three second places - stats looks a bit better now - yeah yeah yeah i know - sample size!!. *edit* been running pretty hot :)

      current progress
      Starting BR (for 2.25s) = $250
      Current (inc RB) = $321.73
      Profit (ex RB) = 61.20 EV = $20.43
      games played = 156

      So i have been running pretty good at the 2.25s. My confidence is back and i have decided to start adding in some 5.50s to see how I go. My last shot ended up even so am just going to start again with the same initial bankroll of $500. (have more than this in actual roll). really keen to mix some 5.50s in to help get the ironman bronze status.

      Also not doing great against my April goals (although i have watch 3 of the vidoes 0- i include yesterdays coaching from >3 in this (was awsome btw - thanks mate)). Need to post some more hands and hit sng wiz some more. Volume wise, i think im on track to hit the goal (especially with the five day weekend coming up soon - easter fri and mon followed by anzac day = fantastic)

      Anyway here is my progress for the 2.25s and for my second shot at the 5.50s

      current progress
      Starting BR (for 2.25s) = $250
      Current (inc RB) = $384.62
      Profit (ex RB) = $116.55 EV = $60.35
      games played = 264
      ITM = 44.2%
      ROI = 19.5% (ev 10.1%)

      Starting BR (for 5.5s) = $500
      Current (inc RB) = $549.35
      Profit (ex RB) = $46.50 EV :s_confused: = $-15.30 :f_eek:
      games played = 21
      ITM = 42.9%
      ROI = 40.3% (ev -13.3%)

      the 2.25s graph: (yeah me - figured out how to post figures all on my lonesome :s_cool:
