I just read the Bronze BSS strategy article on outs and pot odds, and am confused about one thing.

If the pot is $10 and villain bets $2, the pot is now $12. So, you need to pay $2 to win $12 and have 6:1 pot odds.

But if you call, the pot increases to $14, so shouldn't that be that you pay $2 to win $14 and are getting 7:1 pot odds?

      Maybe someone can clarify this.

      Hi belayd,

      Great questions!

"But if you call, the pot increases to $14, so shouldn't that be that you pay $2 to win $14 and are getting 7:1 pot odds?"

Correct answer is no. It will be 6:1 because you called ($2) and now your possible winnings are $14 in total. But Pot odds means profit (pot size before you call) and amount to call. Reality you will only be getting the pot size which is $12.

Required equity in this example would be $2 (amount to call) and total pot $14 (pot after call) which is 1:7 = 14.3%.
