      Hello everyone!

I've been playing Rush poker for the past 3 months. I've played FR at the beginning (NL10/25) and then SH (NL50/NL100). I managed to get from like 100$ on FTP to 3.500$ in this time, when I started playing really badly (or maybe I was playing badly all the time, except I had huge amount of luck, who knows...) and went on a 1000$ downswing, so I decided to end this catastrophy before it gets any worse. Anyway I cashed out additional 1000$, so I'll be continuing in the next days with BR around 1500$.

So, basically, my question is, what to do now? I have 3 choices, and I need your advice on the matter.

One way is to start playing normal game, which would mean starting NL25 SH (FR is not an option). The other way is to stick to the Rush poker, and here I could choose between FR or SH.

I would really like to hear some opinions of more established poker players on the matter. As for myself, these are the pros and cons as I see them:

      Normal NL SH:
+ Ability to develop my game
+ Relatively smaller swings versus Rush poker
      + Less nit-ier game

      - Less volume = less RB = less FTPoints (=less cash bonuses)
      - Have to play 6+ tables to reach a decent volume (I really dislike playing more than 6 tables)
      - It will be hard to get used to the "slowliness" of the normal games compared to the RUSH at the Rush tables

      Rush NL:
+ Huge volume = huge RB = more cash bonuses
+ No need for table selection
+ Less need to worry about table image / balancing
+ Easier and faster way to build up BR ?
+ Easier to maintain Black Card status (especially while playing NL25)
+ Easier to maintan Diamond status (especially while playing NL25/50)

      - Huge swings (even on a daily basis)
      - Far less ability to improve pokerwise

Anyway, I would really like for you guys to add some constructive opinions on the matter, and if you think playing Rush is better, which type, FR or SH?

I'll start writting a blog here on PS.com after I decide about this, and will try to get real serious about poker.

i play rush FR so i have a obvious bias towards that gametype but i think the advantages of rush outweight the disadvantages. Also 15-20 BI swings are standard. I had a 25 buyin swing this month (although some tilt was involved) and i managed to recover from it and i am +20BI for the month. Basically if u can handle swings, play rush.

Just wanted to express my admiration of what you were able to do. $100 to $3500 in 3 months is no mean feat. I really wouldn't put it to an incredible amount of luck.

I'm no expert or pro, but maybe you could think about a few things:

Do you use trackers to analyze where your leaks sprung up?

Have you been playing regularly? Have you noticed who you've been playing up against?

Did your usual fish become sharks or just disappear completely? Have the regs gotten better?

Thank you both for the input!

Ok so...i5bet72o, I think I can handle swings, especially if I start at the proper limit (NL25 for 1500$ is more than comftorable imo), and therefore yes ofc I lean towards Rush a bit more. But what would you suggest, FR or SH? And why?

The main thing I would like to get opinions on is the ability to improve my game while playing Rush, since in almost every single video of Rush ppl tend to emphasize "not being able to improve your game @ Rush" so much, it just kinda makes me not wanna play Rush.

dochazard: firstly, thanks mate for the positive words! Yeah I also think I am somewhat developed poker player (nowhere near where I would wanted to be ofc). As for the leaks, I'm really not pretty sure where to look for it lol. One thing is there isn't many Rush SH videos out there, which is imo a big con toward that type of the game, as well as I couldn't find any good theory on SH Rush.

Was also thinking about finding someone who also plays Rush at the same or close to same limits, to do some sweat sessions or something, maybe that would also help.

ya finding someone who plays the same limits as u for sweats/discussion/to just complain about varience is super helpful especially when u r running bad. I prefer FR rush b/c i find the game easier to understand (everyone has such polarised ranges). I completly agree with the statement that u r not able to improve your game playing rush. Although the dynamic is a little different, u can really learn the game playing rush and hand reading becomes even more important. Another thing about rush is that u have to be super good at reading stats.

OK, so in terms of learning about poker (theory itself, not hand/stats reading) you would recommend standard games?
And yes, I agree, it is easier to put people on ranges at FR vs SH, especially at Rush poker, considering the fact that Rush SH (especially NL50+) is so incredibly spewy.

Ok, as for the sweat&stuff partner, I'll definitely try to find someone. Anyone? :) Btw, since it's not a sin to ask, i5bet72o at which limits do you play, and would you be willing to devote a minute or two a week for me? :)
