It's about time to start a blog. I like to interact with the comunity and read quite a few blogs here.

      Personal stuff:
      I'm a 24 years old from Brazil and I have a decent 8h/day J-O-B. I have a 6 year relationship with a girl from a diferent city (200km away).

      Pre-Poker history:
In my past job we started playing a weird form of poker once a week, just for fun (it was like $1 buy in). A silly game: pretty much texas holdem, but with antes, no blinds and no pre-flop betting round. After all, you make your hand on the flop, right? :f_eek:
We did make one game with pre-flop betting round. I was kicking ass, but the boss wasn't and didn't like it so we switched back.

Then in my new job, about 18 months ago, we startet playing home games, still just for fun (but now real NLHE) and I started playing on pokerstars with playmoney. Poker was a fun gambling thing for me, just that. I had no idea one could make serious money from poker long term.

So one of my friends introduced me do PS.com and I was a bit skeptical, but as it was free money I gave it a try, got my 50 bucks on FT.

      Poker history:
So I starded playing $1 SnGs, the Daily Dollar and other MTTs, some 2/5 CG, pretty much a bit of everything in NLHE. Was building my bankroll slowly and started focusing on MTTs.
Then BOOM: I nail an early double for 1.4k. That was pretty awesome. So I kept on playing MTTs with no real results, losing a little bit of my new BR.
So I started to look for something where I could make some money every month. I knew playing like 8 MTTs a day wouldn't do much. CG weren't realy my thing, I got bored very quickly.
Then, after reading <3's blog and how good he was doing I decided to go with SnGs.

      SnGs history:
So I started with the $6.5 turbos. I was rolled for the $12, but decided to learn a bit first. Ran pretty good.
So I moved up to the $12 and lost a bit, but was confident on my game and kept grinding, tryin new layouts. Got SnG Wiz, witch helped a lot. Learned what a downswing is, whined a lot about it, including on the forums. But eventualy, it passed.
So another heater came and I was sitting with about $2k, but wasn't confident to move up yet. ATM I liked playing tiled, but that was hard on a 15' laptop screen, so I cashed out $600 to buy a 22' monitor (yea, Brazil, the thing costed me like $500).

So I was realy confident I could beat the $12 by a good margin, kept grinding until I got a 2.5k BR to move up. The $24s hitted me in da face :f_cry: . No big deal standart variance, running a good amount < EV.
So I got back at the $12 to regain confidence (and BR), and after the next heater, moved up again. This time the $24s were nice to me and I moved quickly to something close to 3K BR. I was concernd with my volume since it was very hard to table select the $24s. So I decided to take a shot and mix up some $36s to fill my set. I figured if my avg BI was inside my 100 BI BRM it would be ok. I could always move down (I hope I would). But the $36s loved me and I started with a heater.

      Now:
So now here I am, with a confortable BR to the $24/$36.
I am a low volume player. It's hard to get 500 games in a month. I still play the live game with my coworkers every monday (we have a ranking system, going for a medal this semester :s_cool: ). I see my gf every weekend: no poker.
So basicly a play 3 days a week. Sometimes I play Sundays, sometimes I manage to play on fridays, but that's it.

Enouth here. Goals, graphs, doubts and other stuff to come.

Obviously I'm not very happy with my results in the 24/36.
I mean, I'm running pretty good, but ev is pretty low. Could be just std variance, small sample....

I guess confidence will always be a problem because I don't put enouth volume to be sure of anything.

      Funny situation.

I was ending my session, last table running, bubble. One reg (3% over >5k games) to my left, 2 unkowns.

I get the chip lead and the guy to my right is the shortie. Obv pushing ATC vs the reg. He spites with KJ.
2 hands latter (CO) I push into my direct oponent (prob. too loose), get called and win.
A few hands latter, HU, I minraise/snap call KQ and suckout to win the SnG.

Reg flames me on the chat.

      Good things:
I marked the CO push to analize it in detail after the reg flamed me.
I analized the HU hand in detail (and liked my play very much in that specific spot)

      Weird:
So he did spite called on the bubble. He was snapping every decision so probably playing less tables too.
In the end he called me an idiot.
I'm not sure how to read that. Should I be carefull pushing ATC because he spites?
Do regs make those spites to gain future equity (more walks)?

Ah, you finally have a blog :) Good stuff man.

As lesson said, some regs are just bad and care more about their ego or just don't read the situation very well.

Good luck anyway, will be following this one as well.

Crazy live game action yesterday. 11 people in our SnG.

Pretty boring early, we began with one 10 handed table. Soon one fish was busted, but a few minutes latter one other guy came in, so 10 handed for like 2 hours. SH is so much more fun live.

We have a ranking system and I was in second in points.

      10 handed, blinds 80/160 I had about 4.5k stack.
3rd in our rank was pretty bored, complaining about the music and about being card dead.
He opens UTG for 400 (3k stack). I had a tell that it was a tilt open, like "I'm card dead I have to play this, even UTG". He's not a good player too so I gave him a pretty wide range.
I'm MP with QQ. A few fishes behind but play was quite tight because of high blinds (no calling raises with SC and stuff), so I flat, everyone else folds.
Flop comes 89T, two spades. Guy cbets for about 1/2 pot. I think he cbets a lot here with overs, draws, AT, AJ, JJ, and obv hands that beat me. He might check a set cause he thinks I'm pretty agressive.
So I shove, he slowroll calls me with the nuts QJ.

So I got realy realy pissed, cause I had such a solid read PF and lost to a pretty much dead hand PF. I went for a walk.

So I recover with 99 vs 33 AI PF. Latter the ranking leader lost an all-in and was down to 170 chips in t300.
8 handed, with the dead guy in the BB I open UTG with AQs, got a caller (+ BB AI) we check it down, BB wins and quadruples up, I win the side pot.
Next hand I was BB, so 2 BB pushed I snap without looking. He had AK and holded.
2 hands latter he open pushes the HJ I call the button with TT. He sucks out with 66.
One round latter he opens CO for 5BB (he wanted to put me, BU, AI) so I shoved, 2 folds.
Probably busted myself, I mean, he was wide there, but calling A8o... A bit tilted maybe.
So he wins his 4th AI vs me.

A few rounds latter he busted himself OOTM.

Now I'm 3rd in our ranking.

      Pretty sick. 1st and 2nd have 6 ITM / 13.
      I have 4, but 2 firsts.

Cool game though, that's why I didn't quit it yet to play online.
Stats here, if you want to peak here
      I'm Thiago.

So I hate live and online poker right now, heheheh
Almost $500 down yesterday, 1k this month. Not used to this.

Confidence is way down right now. EV is close to 1% lifetime in 24/36 combined.

No worries, I'll be at the tables tonight, but I think is time to set up some studying goals...

Was running awfull, cursing the game and everything, then found myself with the 3 last tables.
I take a look at number of games played and results and realized: "haha, goota win the 3 of them to BE"
      BOOM, BOOM, BOOM. BE. :f_confused:

Still sucks.. tables were so fishy at the end...
Only problem was I found myself trying to bluff the fish :f_mad:
      Deff gotta work on mindset...

Hehe same here every time I'm finishing my losing session. And I've noticed that I run very well at the end. I guess focusing on less tables helps that much. :)

Back on track. + 10 BI today :s_biggrin:

I'm reviewing my marked hands and 2 random full SnG HHs before I start my session. Pretty good for my game I think, will try to keep that.

Nice volume too. Pitty it's easter soon, will be hard to play... I'm getting close to platinium level.

      Yep.. that's what I need.

Problem is Holy Friday is a holiday here, and so is the 21st of april. So I'm traveling to my family's/girlfriend's place, with only a laptop.

Will think about it, cause I have to make an effort to make Iron Man too. I have 5 1000+ point days, so it will suck if I lose all those extra medals...

Don't know what to do about this crazy crisis.

I don't need poker for living, but I have money that matters to me there. Cashing out now sucks a bit cause USD is so weak =(

Also I'm woried about the games. I could find soft games yesterday, but they were loading very slow. Hard to keep 9 games running.

Guess I'll wait a little bit to see what happens.

      TODAY IS LIVE GAME DAY!

All my eforts on this game now.
      - Concentrate, concentrate, concentrate.
      - Leave beers to end game =) (Main goal is to have fun, obv.). Hard one today. Got an awesome beer from my home town.

Did you thinked to maybe play more in live after it? If you are experienced in live, you will have an edge on the casinos or poker room regulars, you would cash from them also. i dont know where u live, but isnt there some place where you can play live poker? i would try it - if you afraid of what will happen to your money.

dont know where u play, but stars handeld i think very good this situation and they only loosed cirka 25% of their whole player pool which is way more bigger than fulltilts. and ft lost 48% of their players...

      pwned

      12 man SnG yesterday <3

Lost 3 first pots then ran GODLIKE.

Guy calls my cbet OOP and leads the turn small. Pretty weird, I did put him on a steal (not that the pot belonged to my Q high, hehehe). So I raise him with just a gutshot, he calls. I hit, but a possible flush hits also.
I decide to vbet anyway, he calls me with a floped set.
Gotta work on reads of this guy.

I bust one guy with turned flush vs rivered trip A. I raised him on the turn, he called. He was OOP and insta shiped the river, LOL.

Flushed again 5 handed, but the guy managed to fold his TP. Nitty bastard :f_biggrin:

Floped 2 pair vs the best player at the table, got 2 bets from a gutshot :s_biggrin:

Then we merged tables (9 handed) and I was pretty quiete. Waiting to 3bet a maniac. Turned out other losish guy raised and I try to 3 bet him with Ax. He jams. Very next hand same guy opens, I 3bet again, he jams again :f_mad:

Rest is pretty standart. Lost some flips and 60/40s, won some, pwned the buble, did nice HU.
Ship it. 1st in our rank.
