Going to post one interesting situation, what happened while I played today at Partypoker fullring table:

Known players: (for a description of vp$ip, pfr, ats, folded bb, af, wts, wsd or hands click here)
      Position:
      Stack
      BU:
      $19,94
      Hero:
      $27,25
      BB:
      $6,37
      UTG+2:
      $10,79

      0,10/0,25 No-Limit Hold'em (9 handed)
Hand recorder used for this poker hand: Texas Grabem 1.9 by www.pokerstrategy.com.

Preflop: Hero is SB with 6:spade: , 6:diamond:
UTG+1 folds, UTG+2 calls $0,25, 4 folds, BU calls $0,25, Hero calls $0,15, BB checks.

      Flop: ($1,00) 6:heart: , 9:club: , 4:club: (4 players)
Hero bets $1, BB folds, UTG+2 calls $1,00, BU folds.

      Turn: ($3,00) 5:spade: (2 players)
      Hero bets $2,80, UTG+2 calls $2,80.

      River: ($8,60) 3:heart: (2 players)
      Hero ?

What would you be your line:
      a) put UTG+2 all-in (UTG+2 had left 6,74$)
      b) check/fold to UTG push
      c) making block/valuebet 3-4$ and fold to UTG+2 push
      d) making valuebet 3-4$ and call UTG+2 push
      e) check/call to any bet that UTG makes.

It would be nice if you could comment your answer. After some answers I post what I did and why.

      I'd say either d) or e) ;
He could have a flush draw or TPWK, with which he might shove if you check. Any 7 or 2 beats you, but I don't think that's very likely (except 87 maybe, but then he would've raised the turn probably). So I really don't know :D What did you do?

I would push. He was probably playing a flush draw since he was calling down since the flop, if he would have a straight draw on the flop he would probably compleated it on the turn and would push your after your bet(unless he is slow playing, but I would think that's unlikley since he was pretty much short stacked). If you lost here it was just bad luck since he had exactly the right card to complete the straight - and if he had one right card and no flush draw and he won becouse of the river he's just not very bright :P

Anyway, that's my opinion - don't shoot me if it's wrong.

      What happened anyway?

      a) put UTG+2 all-in (UTG+2 had left 6,74$)
      b) check/fold to UTG push
      c) making block/valuebet 3-4$ and fold to UTG+2 push
      d) making valuebet 3-4$ and call UTG+2 push
      e) check/call to any bet that UTG makes.

      a) He would only call all-in with a hand that beats you

      b) if you check you look weak and he might bluff with his busted flush draw so I wouldn't fold

      c) If you make a block bet, you already got so much money in the pot so that I couldn't get myself to folding anyway:)

      d) If you make this block bet, I don't think he will call with something you can beat.. maybe the bottom straight but not with a busted flush draw or an overpair taht he was slow-playing or something and if he pushes you know you're beat but you still have to call.

      e) So i would check/call him, to give him the opportunity to bluff with his busted flush draw or make a value bet with the overpair, if he's got the straight he's gonna want you to call, so he's gonna give you pretty good pot odds anyway, if he doesn't he might push but that's like saying like that's got nothing..

What did you do? and what did he have?

Check/Call is the only optiojn that gives us the best EV here.
When we check we give him the chance to bet with a busted flush or maybe a smaller set or an Overpair.
When we push, only hands that beat us should call here. When we bet out here, we have to a push from villain anyway, since we would get to good odds here.

How can you put him on that precise hand? His range is pretty big, and anyway he would probably raise the flop with 15 outs, no?

Thanks all the replies. Hand went on:

      River: ($8,60) 3:heart: (2 players)
Hero checks, UTG+2 bets $5,25, Hero calls $5,25.

      Final Pot: $19,10

      Results follow (highlight to see):
      Hero shows [ 6s, 6d ] three of a kind, Sixes
      UTG+2 shows [ 8d, 9d ] a pair of Nines
Hero wins $18.15 USD with three of a kind, Sixes.

I chose check/call since I didn´t know if he had 7 or not and I gave him chance to bluff with weaker hands on scary board. Not sure if I would played it the same way against big stack. Thanks for discussion.
