Hey guys, thanks for the time!
Was grinding the big stakes and I ended up Hitting this guy twice with sets heads up. First time I won a ton of his stack! Woohoo!
Second time I make a set on him though, This hand occurs.
I've only got a general question, how would you have played this to improve Value and/or minimize loss.
I had a feeling that I was beat on the river and resolved to just call the hand down, better or worse moves?

      The hand follows:

      Known players:
      Position:
      Stack
      Hero:
      $7.04
      MP1:
      $1.53

      0.01/0.02 No-Limit Hold'em (9 handed)
Hand recorder used for this poker hand: Elephant.Base 0.98 by www.pokerstrategy.com.

Preflop: Hero is SB with 8:spade: , 8:diamond:
2 folds, MP1 raises to $0.06, 4 folds, Hero calls $0.05, BB folds.

      Flop: ($0.14) J:diamond: , 8:club: , 4:diamond: (2 players)
      Hero bets $0.07, MP1 calls $0.07.

      Turn: ($0.28) T:heart: (2 players)
      Hero bets $0.2, MP1 calls $0.20.

      River: ($0.68) 7:spade: (2 players)
Hero checks, MP1 bets $0.34, Hero calls $0.34.

      Final Pot: $1.36

      Results follow (highlight to see):
      MP1 shows a straight, jack high (9s 9d)
      Hero shows (8s 8d)

      MP1 wins with a straight, jack high (9s 9d)

Thanks again and good luck on the tables!

      Hello Jimanyjerk,

Flop: I'd even start betting on flop bigger like $0,12.
Turn: Could as well bet a bit bigger but it's not a really big mistake.
River: But here I would rather block-bet/Fold myself while he may Call you with a lot worse holdings which he just Checks behind and either we don't want to Call some big bet.

      Best regards.

Hey awesome, Thanks for the reply! Just for further clarification, about what size would you make the blocking bet in that scenario.
Is there a percentage amount you would be basing it off of? He ended up betting half the pot, should I have blocking bet 1/3rd?

Yeah, I do mix it up, sometimes 1/3, sometimes 1/2 sometimes even bigger, depending on the opponent but in this situation you can try go for 1/2. Since he still has a lot of Jx in this range and maybe even 2pairs.
