      Hello fellow PokerStrategists,

After an extended period of absence from the poker world I am back. I have had a blog before but unfortunately it didn't last very long!

I have played poker for 5 years now (off and on like a light switch)

In my previous attempts at this beautiful game I played Cash games. Always fullring, I started with SSS, then BSS and even a little MSS but I could never beat the micros well enough giving the amount of time spent.

Time will always be an issue for me. I hold down a full time job, I have a beautiful fiancee and a 15 month old daughter so most of my time revolves around them.

Finding the correct balance is never easy with all those factors involved and Poker will never be something that will be number 1 priority.

When I started playing Poker first MTTs were my game. I had moderate success occasionally hitting final tables before I even knew what BRM was. Finding time to play MTTs on a regular basis to get any sort of sample is fairly difficult so I am going to have to schedule myself alot better!

      The Masterplan:

I will play 100 $1 Rush on Demand tournaments within the coming weeks/months

I have deposited exactly that amount onto my FTP account.

I will regularly update this blog with my results.

It may take a while so please bare with me!!!

      Any advices/critique is always welcomed.

      Have yourself a nice day.

So I played my first set of four games just now.

      Game 1:

Started out well but lost with QJ vs KJ on a Jxx flop.

      Game 2:

Coinflipped with 12BB AQ vs 77 couldnt catch up

      Game 3:

Lost when Shortstacked KK vs A6, he hit flush on turn

      Game 4:

Min cashed, AA vs KJ, (chip leader in BB called my 2.5BB raise)

K on flop, I bet pot he shoved and hit a King on the river.

      Annoyed but thats poker

      So the summary goes:

      Games: 4/100
      ITM: 1/4
      Starting Bankroll: $110
      Current Bankroll: $107.56

Hope to do another set in the morning and one tomorrow evening!

      Goodluck,

      Hey Bart,

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the welcome.

It feels good to be back after such a long absence. Been keeping tabs on the game as much as possible. Alot has changed with Black Friday and all.

The family are very well thank you and hope you and yours are too.

Getting married in January so alot of preparations for that!

      Take care,
      Gary

      Hey Gary,

The ROD's are so fun :) I'm sure your experience will help you overcome the variance. Good luck and keep this blog going.

      Morning Session Complete:

      Game 1:

Built a healthy stack early, thanks to a 3 way AI pot with my KK holding up. Went pretty card dead from there. Lost some steam when I called a shorty with AT vs AK.

Then lost with 33 vs Q9 when he hit a set on turn, and a house on the river.

      Game 2:

Didn't go very far in this one. Lost with AQ vs KQ and was left with 40 chips. Managed to get it back to 1k chips but my AJ ran into AA shortly afterwards.

      Game 3:

A9 into 55 and no help when down to 12BB. In fact he went on to hit quads on the turn and river, just to rub salt into the wounds :)

      Game 4:

A bit tilted from the previous games. Raised AJ and someone shoved with JJ and I insta called but didn't improve.

Not a good start but I'm not playing my best. Normally I hit the ground running but apparently not this time. Maybe it'll work out better this way.

      Overall Standings
      Games: 8/100
      ITM 1/8
      Starting Bankroll: $110
      Current Bankroll: $103.16

      Hey Pleno1,

      Thanks for dropping by.

They are fun for sure but I'm probably being too aggressive early on.

Going to tone down the aggression in the early stages for my next session and see how it goes.

Do you think 100BI is enough for this?

Any advices or strategies for me???

      Regards,
      Gary

So after this mornings dismal session I was preparing not to play again until late this evening.

However our plans for my day off changed when the weather took a turn for the worse.

In total I played another 2 sets of 4 games.

      SET 1

      Game 1:

      Finished 4th position for $59.12

      Game 2:

      Finished 11th for $7.05

      Game 3:

      Min cashed for $1.96

      Game 4:

      Finished 1st out of 838 for $192.74

      SET 2:

      Game 1:

Lost 1st hand with AA in a 3 way AI pot vs 66 and AK (AK hit flush)

      Game 2:

      Finished 3rd for $75.71

      Game 3:

      Finished 14th for $6.75

      Game 4:

      Finished 9th for $17.11

So, I done quite well in that session and am well over rolled for the $1 games now.

Not too sure whether to keep going with these 100 games or move up?

Advices very welcome. I'm pretty sure I am well capable of playing the $4 games but would like to think what you all think?

      Overall Standings:

      Games: 16/100
      ITM: 8/16
      Starting Bankroll: $110
      Current Bankroll: $360.44

So I would have 81 BI for the $4.40s, I think thats more than enough to move up!

      Peace out,
      Gary

      @jbpatzer

Thank you sir! Congrats on your NL50 run, hope all goes well.

      @kyle

No luck boxing involved..... pure skill..... lol

So as for an update I have played 5 games since. Played 4 $4.40 games and went very deep in one but only min cashed! So frustrating when that happens.

I'm not using a HUD at the minute so you'll have to make do with my own hand history!

I had 25k chips, Villian had 29k chips. (He was 1st/45 and I was 2nd)

      Hero in BB: JTo
      Villian in SB: Q9o

      Flop: KJT

The rest shall we say is inevitable!

Played a $1 game this morning as the 4s werent filling up and I min cashed for $1.96

So as I said no real update.

Gonna get a few $4 games in now!

      Later,

Hi mate, The $1s are fairly soft and I could nearly say the $4s aren't quite bad either.
The earlier you build a stack the better imo. Theres a lot of limping from EP so you can isolate alot IP. Other than that the play is generally quite bad and alot of people register late and for them its a crapshoot. All the better to reg early as possible.

      So a quick update:

Played 4 RODS tonight, each of them $4 and I didn't cash in any. Actually didn't get close to a cash.

Didn't play well as I was quite tired from being up at 7am this morning thanks to the little one. I shouldn't really have played to be honest as I wasn't focused enough!

I won't be letting that happen again!

Will post goals etc in the coming days. As the weekend comes I work longer days so I won't be playing much poker until Saturday night. The missus is going out so I will have peace and calm while the wee one is in bed and can play my A+ game!

      Cheerio!

      What am I playing now?

Since Tuesday... nothing! Before Tuesday a few hands here and there in 5CD and FL Stud.

But being my usual self I get fed up all to easily playing so I'm just not gonna until I feel the urge too :)

I'm much happier watching you guys do all the pwning for me :)
