hey guys, i've decided to start a blog to help me improve my game and to track my progress.

i'm a sport management student from Canada, and ive been playing poker for around 6 years.

i started playing poker online years ago on pokerstars, began with freerolls and grinded up to around 500 but blew that and cashed out 100 which at the time was pretty cool

i found pokerstrategy around a year ago, and have been able to work up my starting capital into a solid bankroll, but have yet to deposit.

until now i havnt had much time to really study the game and grind out some solid volume due to hockey and other commitments.

i play cgs(NL25 Rush), sngs, and mtts on ftp and am i huge nit, have 160 BI for NL25 but havent moved up as i want to put in at least 50k hands at this limit and improve my game even more.

just recently got a cardrunners memby and HEM, going really try to grind it out.... which means no more NL1k shots vs super fish ;( ....

      short term goals (May):
play A game (eliminate D and C game)
      play 5k hands NL25 Rush (2-tabling)
      play 50 guaranteed mtts
      watch 5 cr/ps vids
      play NL200 live 2x

ps: ill try to figure out graphs and post a few soon :s_biggrin:

To post a hand, right-click on the hand in HEM, then click "View Selected Hand Histories". Then go to this link (You may want to bookmark it) http://www.pokerstrategy.com/poker-hand-converter/ Convert it, then copy-paste the hand into your blog.

To post a graph, go to the graph on HEM and right-click. Select "Save Image As...". Pick a JPEG or PNG format. Then go to imageshack or photobucket, sign up for an account, and upload it. The site will give you [IMG] tags for all your images, so copy paste it onto the forum.

      Good luck! Hope this helped.

Even easier, in the 'Session' screen, either double click on the hand or right click and select 'Replay hand'. In the replay screen click on 'Hand History' (top left of screen, sometimes can take a sec or two to appear).

In the hand history screen that appears click on the '2+2' button (top right). This copies the hand, then just paste the hand directly into your post.

Trust this helps and GL. :f_grin:

tough tourney night so far, 0/4 in the midnight madness, busted 56/241 in the 10$ rebuy.

not sure if i should just jam pre w 16bbs, villain playing 7/0 over 15 hands limps....

      Grabbed by Holdem Manager
      NL Holdem $200(BB) Replayer
      SB ($4,375)
      BB ($3,328)
      UTG ($3,690)
      UTG+1 ($7,476)
      UTG+2 ($17,965)
      MP1 ($7,350)
      Hero ($3,227)
      CO ($4,540)
      BTN ($4,760)

      Dealt to Hero Q:diamond: Q:spade:

fold, fold, fold, MP1 calls $200, Hero raises to $700, fold, fold, fold, fold, MP1 calls $500

      FLOP ($1,700) 3:heart: 6:heart: 7:spade:

      MP1 bets $1,000, Hero raises to $2,527 (AI), MP1 calls $1,527

      TURN ($6,754) 3:heart: 6:heart: 7:spade: 5:heart:

      Hero shows Q:diamond: Q:spade:
      (Pre 66%, Flop 45.7%, Turn 0.0%)

      MP1 wins $6,754

      then...

      villain playing 36/22 17% 3b over 40 hands

i thought of folding flop, as most of his pairs jam pre, along with AK, AQ and maybe AJ. however there are a ton of draws, obviously diamonds, 65, 64, 45, and maybe even small pp like 22, 44,55,66, so i ended up calling it off.

      standard in that spot?

      (Pre 32%, Flop 91.4%, Turn 95.5%)

      BB wins $8,436

finally, weird bustout in the rebuy

villain 46/7 over 70 hands, bets in position frequently or when pfa gives up.

i dont cbet as its 4 way and i pretty much have to either bet fold half my stack, or jam. i decide to check and pick off a likely jam by villain, not sure if its optimal

played some 1/2 live at a home game, crazy game.
1 orbit holdem, 1 orbit omaha, switched to straight omaha
      about halfway through.
guys were semi bad and easy to read, player on my left
was in for 2k and busto'd it all. despite all this, was only up
100 on the night due to some spots where i couldve fold,
ex Q6J9ss on A66Q3, on turn or river :f_confused:
      oh well... still + :)
      time for grindaments this evening!

not really sure what to do in this particular spot
utg is 21/15 over 34 hands
      utg+1 is 55/6 over 20 hands
co is 44/6 over 20 hands

just one hand earlier utg+1 min 3b 1010, and 5b jammed it
so i was only worried about utg opening a big hand, and there
was a ton of dead money in the pot, so i jammed thinking the
majority of the time i pick up 2745.

decided to get back to playing NL25 RUSH,
had a nice session saturday and another solid
short one today. didnt get to face off against
      jbpatzer unfortunately :f_p:

looking in my HEM none of the info for any of my
rush stats are showing, instead just 360 hands
for regular .10/.25 NL. Anyone know what i can
change in settings to get the rush statisitics back
      up?

went into spew mode for awhile during todays session.

however turned it around and played 690 hands at 11bb/100.

here are two hands that were difficult for me.

      hand 1:
i check call flop as board is super dry, want to give villain a chance to hit something, and villain has a high bet in position stat.

check call turn, feel that he can continue with his bluffs, and 77-JJ, and all other 1 pair hands.

river is a tough decision. i feel there are not too many hands that have a 5 in them, ive completely underepped my hand, and 77-JJ could still be vbetting super thin.

      Grabbed by Holdem Manager
      NL Holdem $0.25(BB) Full Tilt
      SB ($8.65)
      BB ($52.10)
      UTG ($44.13)
      Hero ($41.39)
      CO ($25)
      BTN ($34.96)

      Dealt to Hero A:diamond: A:spade:

fold, Hero raises to $0.75, fold, BTN calls $0.75, fold, fold

      FLOP ($1.85) 6:club: 2:diamond: 6:heart:

Hero checks, BTN bets $1, Hero calls $1

      TURN ($3.85) 6:club: 2:diamond: 6:heart: 4:spade:

Hero checks, BTN bets $2, Hero calls $2

      RIVER ($7.85) 6:club: 2:diamond: 6:heart: 4:spade: 3:club:

Hero checks, BTN bets $5.50, Hero calls $5.50

      Hero shows A:diamond: A:spade:

      BTN shows 5:spade: 5:diamond:
      (Pre 18%, Flop 9.6%, Turn 13.6%)

      BTN wins $17.91

      Hand 2:
i am seemingly completely dumbfounded in this hand.

      no stats on villain

standard open, call of min 3b

ive seen numerous players play AA,KK, QQ in this manner

villains cb is small, making me think he isnt crushing the board, or has a massive draw, however i dont wanna cr and flip w overpair.

i thought about leading the turn but i thought it would look superstrong, and if villain ever has a bluffing range here i can cc.

river is a tough spot, because of villains small flob cb, i didnt think he had a big fd like AK-AJs, so i thought it was AA-JJ, however i didnt know if a spade was in those hands. not sure if villain would check back overpairs in this spot or turn them into bluffs.... hmmmmmm :f_frown:

tough end to some tournies tonight.

into the final 5 tables of the 3.30 Rebuy.

villain is playing 33/16/2.7 w 4 AF over 100 hands.

lots of history as he tried to barrel me off 2ndp earlier,

and im aware of his willingness to bluff with little to no equity :f_biggrin:

although he barrels a ton im not sure if he would 3 barrel me

in this spot, so on river i contemplated fold. but couldnt as there

are a ton of busted draws in this spot, and weak 1p hands

turned into a bluff.... wouldve been top 5 :f_cry:

ran terrible in tournies today, think i played 7 or 8.

got deep in a few but could never hold at any critical point.

KK<A8, QQ<A3, A10s<A7 etc... frustrating. anyways decided to

finish off the day with a small rush session, played 320 and

ran at 46bb/100 hands. this hand definitely helped :f_biggrin:

hoping that by completely underepping my hand i could allow

either fishy villain to make a big mistake. :f_love:

Hey seen you at the tables a few times, i will keep reading the blog. Not sure but the reading is a little bland, spruce it up a little make it interesting to read, not just poker and stats. Just my opinion.
Look forward to seeing you at the tables again.
