      Unknown villain.

      Is this a broke decision or not ? I pretty much doubt that now.

      Hello acceleration123,

      I am not really big fan actually raising in those kind of spots when I even don't know the opponent. Basically I would rather go for pot control against his pot size bet. We could easily just isolate ourselves against better hands.

      For example against some tighter range:

      Board: 8:diamond: J:spade: 9:spade:
             Equity     Win     Tie
      UTG    25.78%  24.74%   1.04% { AsAc }
      UTG+1  74.22%  73.18%   1.04% { JJ, 99-88, QTs, JTs, 98s, QTo, JTo, 98o }

      Best regards.

      Ye, but there are so many draws out there ... don´t I have to protect my hand ?

      The problem with protecting is that you even don't know the opponent. :( And it will be hard to expect him to have some kind of draw hand here. And with just Calling you exactly avoid this kind of situations where he ships and then you even wont know where you stand.

      I would be more often inclined to raise if his donk bet would be like $0,25 or something similar. This would be even more inclined for him to have the draw than making it pot size bet on flop.
