What is a solid sample range for 9man ST tournaments.

Also, does PS have a chat-room of some sort? I often have quick questions to ask or want to discuss a certain play but don't feel the need to start a thread.

      Thanks,

      Tom

I don't know of a chat room associated with PokerStrategy, but check the threads where people have exchanges Skype and other IM information.

I don't know what you mean by "solid sample range." Do you mean what hand range should you use? Do you mean what amount of data lets you trust your ROI? Or how many hands let you estimate your opponents' VPIP/PFR stats accurately?

Thanks for the response, It seems my poker lingo is pretty poor to say the least!

I meant to trust my ROI :) .

I Will look for SNG discussion groups.

      Cheers,

      Tom

You want a confidence interval for your ROI. A rough 95% confidence interval for your win rate after n full-ring STTs with a 50-30-20 structure is your observed ROI +- 310%/sqrt(n). For example, after 1000 tournaments, your confidence interval is your observed ROI +- 10%. Playing 4 times as many tournaments shrinks the confidence interval by a factor of 2.
