      Me again.

A monster hand is two pair or better, but if the board pairs on the flop your two pair can have significantly less value, here are some examples:

      Hole Cards FLOP Comment
AK AK2 This is a monster
A2 AK2 This is not quite as good as the above hand
26 26A This is still pretty strong
AA 22K This get trickier (someone may hold trips)
AK 22K Same as previous but slightly weaker
2A KK2 This is still two pair but quite a poor hand
23 KK2 This is still two pair but of little worth

Which should I count as Monsters?

I have a question about Three of a kind also:

      Hole Cards FLOP Comment
22 2A4 A SET always a Monster on the flop
A2 22K TRIPS, a Monster especially with the big kicker
23 22K TRIPS, a Monster but I could be outkicked
AK QQQ This one is three of a kind, but everyone has it

Which should I count as Monsters?

Again apologises but I will keeps seeking clarification, it's the way I am.

      Hi PokerBandit!

      AK AK2 monster
      A2 AK2 monster
      26 26A monster
AA 22K not a monster but still a good hand
AK 22K not a monster but still a good hand
      2A KK2 not a monster
      23 KK2 not a monster

      22 2A4 monster
      A2 22K monster
      23 22K monster
AK QQQ not a monster but still a good hand because you beat every player who doesn`t have a pocket pair.

      Hope this helps!

      Good luck at the tables!

Hi Puschkin81, I think maybe my last post was a little ambigous, probably should be titled playing your hand on the flop.

The hands in the examples that are not monsters are also not pairs so the basic strategy on your site I am working through to take the quiz doesn't tell me how to play them.

      e.g. AK 22K

This is two pair but not a monster, so how do play this hand on the flop?

It`s played like top pair top kicker. The pair on the board doesn`t count.

The same counts for hands like A2 KK2. You play it like you would have a bottom pair only.

      Best regards,
