I always encounter problems everytime PartyPoker updates their client.
      1. my client won't update automatically. status remains 0%
      2. if i download the installer from their website and run it (as admin) still, the status remain 0%

Partypoker support gave me instruction, still won't work.
Even their web browser based client wont connect or work.

      Please help.

      Hey ramjack,

What did PartyPoker support advise you?

I'll move this thread to the PartyPoker boards and maybe a specialist there could advise.

      Best,

      Marc

This is the 1st Instruction they sent me:

      Dear Ramjack,

As promised to you over the chat, I am sending you simple steps on how to avoid such technical issues in the future and hopefully download PartyPoker software without any problems. I wish you good luck playing on our tables.

First of all, please make sure you uninstall any software or delete anything that has something to do with PartyPoker on your computer. To double check if you have downloaded or saved some PartyPoker folders on your computer please follow the steps below:

      • Click 'Start', point to 'Settings', click on 'Control Panel', and then double-click on the 'Add/Remove Programs'. Open 'My Computer' and browse to 'C:/Program files/', then delete 'PartyGaming' folder (default location is C:/Program files/PartyGaming unless you changed the installation folder the last when you installed).

After that, I would ask you to delete all 'Temporary Files' and 'Cookies' on your computer and clear 'History' in the 'Internet Explorer'. In order to do that, please follow the steps below:

      1. Close all programs and open Internet Explorer.
      2. Click on Tools on the menu bar.
      3. Click on Internet Options.
      4. Under the General tab, there is a Browsing history section.
      5. Click on the Delete button staying for deleting Temporary Files, History, Cookies, Saved Passwords and Web Form Information.
      6. Another window will pop-up, where you have to click on the Delete all button at the bottom.
      7. Click on Yes to confirm. Close all the windows. Also close Internet Explorer.

After the above procedure, please perform a Disk Cleanup:

      1. Close all the programs.
      2. Click on Start button and then on All Programs.
      3. Click on Accessories and Select System Tools.
      4. Click on Disk Cleanup. After the disk cleanup is done, you will be taken back to the desktop.

You will then need to restart your computer and follow the steps below to download the software:

      1. Start your computer and as the computer is booting press and hold the 'F8' key.
      2. This should bring up a black screen named 'Windows Advanced Options Menu'.
      3. Use your arrow keys to navigate and select 'Safe Mode with Networking'
      4. Hit the 'Enter' key.
      5. Once your system loads go to the Internet and open http://www.PartyPoker.com ( Your desktop icons may be larger but this is expected behaviour )
      6. Click on 'Download' and save the setup file on your desktop.
      7. Right click on the setup file and choose 'Run as Admin' to start the installation process.
      8. Once the lobby is installed, restart your system and login the standard way.
      9. You will have a PartyPoker icon on your desktop. Double clicking on it will launch the application.

I sincerely hope that the above procedures have helped in resolving your trouble. In case you need any further clarification or have other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assist you and will be more than happy to help you.

Thank you for choosing us as your online gaming site.

I can't find the one they sent me yesterday. It has something to do with sending a telnet command to the Partypoker server to check if I have the necessary ports open. Mine is open as I did not receive any connection error message.

Firewall, I believe I have turned it off including anti-virus. My other PC can connect to PartyPoker just fine. Both are running on Windows XP.

      @thazar - I have accepted your invitation.

      Thanks.

Ok, here is the 2nd Instruction PartyPoker they gave me:

      Dear Ramjack ,

Thank you for contacting Customer Service.

      The reason why you are not able to reach the log in screen could be because there is a firewall blocking the connection. In order for us to rectify the matter you need to go to the Start button and open a command prompt;

•On Windows XP a command prompt can be started by going to Run and typing ‘cmd’ without the brackets

•On Windows Vista and Windows 7 a command prompt can be started by typing cmd or command prompt into the search field

      Once the Command prompt is open you can check the statutes of ports 443 and 2147 by typing the following;

      telnet fullhouse.partypoker.com 443
      telnet fullhouse.partypoker.com 2147

Once you enter the above lines, separately for each port, and hit the Enter key.

If the telnet command returns a blank window this means that the ports are not blocked. Therefore, we can assume that there is no firewall on your computer or the firewall is configured properly. If the telnet command returns the error message 'cannot open ports 2147 or 443; Access denied', this means that the ports are blocked by a firewall. In this case, you need to configure your Firewall as follows:

      1. Click Start and then click Control Panel.

      2. In the control panel, click Windows Security Center.

      3. Click Windows Firewall.

      4. Click on Exception Tab.

      5. Click on Add Port and after that add port 443.

      6. Please repeat the same procedure and add port 2147.

If you keep on being unable to open the log in page I would like to ask you to list all security programs installed on your computer ( firewalls /antivirus /websecurity, etc. ) and once you provide us with the list we will send you the corresponding configuration steps. You can also send us a trace report so that we can check the status of your connection. You can make a trace report the following way:

      - Close all the windows, click on the Start button and click on Run.

      - Type the word "Command" in the Run box and hit the Enter key.

      - At the DOS prompt type: tracert real.partygaming.com and hit the Enter key.

      - Once the trace is completed, right click and Select All. Press Enter to copy.

      - Open a word document or a notepad. Right click and select Paste.

*Note: Telnet client is disabled on Windows Vista and Windows 7 OS by default and you may get the following error message ‘telnet is not recognized as a command’ when you try using it. In such cases you first need to enable the telnet client as follows:

      1. Open “Control Panel”

      2. Select “Programs and Features”

      3. Select “Turn Windows features on or off”

      4. Tick the box for “Telnet Client”

In case you have further questions, we will be more than happy to assist you. We are available 24/7 by e-mail and phone.

Thank you for choosing us as your online gaming site.

      Best regards,

      Martin P
