Is he drunk? If he is then he is a drunken idiot... Does he do that if he's sober?

Despite the actual act during play, the rant at the end was stupid because if they were alone in a room, Hellmuth knocks him out.

Also, it is in bad taste to humiliate a person like that after the fact.

Why kick him when he is down?

You have to admit, Hellmuth has caught more than his fair share of bad beats on that show.

Although it could be argued that Hellmuth had it coming. Even if he has it coming, though, it is bad form to do it that way, and in public.

      Just my micro stakes opinion...

      :)

Tony G disappointed me as a person in so many ways this week on the big game.
He is probably, I am actually 100% sure, that he is not drunk.

Personally I'm one of the many who love to see Hellmuth catch a beating. After all his BS about being the greatest Hold Em player in the world, who doesn't want to see him ripped down several dozen pegs? I agree though, Tony was out of line with the whole "I didn't look" line and the verbal assault was uncalled for. As arrogant as Phil is tho, I understand the appeal in attacking his ego to make him tilt.
Did you see the way Hellmuth mouthed off to that Italian Cannon?? I thought that was shameful. A bluff didn't work so he spent 10 mins of air-time calling him a bad player and stating he'll never make it in poker. Every player was owning Phil that week and just 'cos he's Phil - he was talking down to that guy at every opportunity. Loved that it was the amateur who busted him out in the end. Was so sweet (sweeter that he did it with such a bad hand). After that shameful week it I was indifferent to another pro being mean and busting that ego maniac. Bringing a coach to the game with him was pretty f*cking weak too - he should be mocked for that.

IMO, what he did is ok. I mean it is Tony G vs PH; it's a tv show and they do it half for the entertainment. TG loves to fuck with PH's mind and will use everything he can think of to try to tilt him. He saw an opportunity and took it. I don't think that it was someone else than PH TG would have done the same thing. Also if it is so outrageous why did no one at the table tell TG that he was getting out of line.

      just my opinion ;)

You guys are getting soft. :D

etiquette? it's poker ffs . He is not cheating in anyway. We all have seen Tony G a lot and he always try to deceive/intimidate/trick his opponent with talks. Given their history Phil Hellmuth should know that more than anyone else. He should have look at what Tony G was doing (if he indeed had look at his cards or not) and not believe what he said. He got only himself to blame IMO and WP Tony!

Tony G may have been out of line... but only because it looks like he unknowingly took advantage of a mentally handicapped person.

As I understand it, Phil Hellmuth is purported to be capable of making informed decisions like other normal people... but based on his decision to call I think we have to seriously question his mental faculties.

Phil had no good reason to think that information was in any way reliable. Its like getting mad at someone for selling snow to an Eskimo.

I thought it was less fair for the program to blow Tony G's ethically marginal comments way out of perspective.

Bah, he exploited the fact that Hellmuth would never do that, if it's against the rules it should be IN the rules. When Hellmuth exploits someone for something else, is that wrong aswell? Exploiting is the way to make money in poker...

Hellmuth is no saint either, the way he barrates people, his arrivals at the WSOP, he was asking for a villain to focus on him and take him down no matter what...and Tony loves to do that :) .

Imo, i don't think there's anything wrong with it. Hellmuth is the one who chose to believe him. It's no different from someone chatting s**t constantly at the table. If tony can get edge using words good for him. Isn't there a saying "Never believe a poker player at the table"?

yeah, hellmuth constantly judges other players whether or not its ethics or whatever else. its just his cop-out justification to protect himself from the truth... which is that in lots of situations he's not really that great of a poker player.

If Hellmuth weren't such a douche my guess is that Tony G wouldn't have as much interest in getting under his skin.

Well i think that Phil Hellmuth is the last person allowed to complain about Tony's etiquette considering he acts even worse. At least Tony is picking on other pro's while Phil barates everyone including the fish like Perkings. He really doesn't know where his money is comming from.

Personally they are two of my favourite players to watch since with them on the table something intertaning is sure to happen so they make good TV.

Keep in mind that it is a TV show, I doubt G would've done that in a regular cash game
