The "who are you thread" got me thinking. If you could choose an alter ego, a real person, who would it be? What would that person be like?
For me, I loved watching Westerns with my dad. I love watching Western even now. But for me, the appeal of the Westerns was never the violence, I never identified with that. It was the surroundings, the backdrop, the style of life that I liked watching. I think the appeal is the simplicity of life, to attachment to the land and living things, the very cut and dry morality, and the general grittiness of it all.
So my alter ego would be a cowboy. Not a pistol-packing outlaw, but a farmer or cattle rancher from the Old West.
