PartyPoker Changes Their Rake Calculation

From Tuesday, August 23 onward PartyPoker is changing the way they calculate rake that a player produces from dealt to weighted contributed rake.

This is best illustrated by an example:

At a 10-handed full ring table, everybody folds except for 3 players (A, B and C) who see the flop, each paying $10 pre-flop.
Player A goes all-in on the flop for another $35. B folds and C calls the $35.
The total pot size is now $100. At the end of the hand $5 rake gets taken from the pot.

When using the dealt method, this would mean that all 10 players at the table get credited with having produced $5 / 10 = $0.50 of rake.

In the weighted contributed calculation method, every player is credited rake based on the percentage of money that he contributed to the pot. In the above example that would mean only the 3 players who actually invested money are credited with producing rake.

Player B, who put in $10 and folded on the flop, would be credited with $0.50 (10% of $5), while the other two would be credited with $2.25 each (45% of $5). The result is a distribution of the rake which best represents the participation of the players in the action.

Also, the rake calculation changed starting at NL600+. For more information, visit our news article.

Looks pretty similar, except now they classify games $3/6 or higher as high stakes. $5 max rake seems kind of high for a $3/6 limit holdem game.

Sit and Gos: PartyPoker is in the process of reviewing SnGs and will decrease the rake for its lower limit SnGs. The date has yet to be determined.
Cool. 20% rake is too damn high.

Now the limits 3/6, 5/10 and 10/20 pay the same as 15/30 and 25/50! Ridiculous... This new system is definitely worse for mid stakes players :s_mad:

Good luck! I decided to cash out 12-13 days ago and I still haven't seen any money. My first e-mail took them 8 days to respond to. I have since then photographed every paper in my home and sent to them.

I am now expecting them to ask for a blood sample, and I expect them to take 4-5 months to analyze that blood sample before they can give me my own fucking money.

The new rake system kinda sucks, I'm a SSS player and thus really tight so I'm now earning wayyy less than before. Played about 300 hands of NL10 today and guess how many PartyPoints I earned? TWO! :f_frown:

I think their new rake system will be more difficult for tight players, they don't care for how many hours you play on their site, they just need your contributed rake before they give you pts, that means for every 1$ you put on the rake, they will give you 2pts, but their VIP system gives lesser rakeback and their promos will be much harder to do now.

So if you plan to become gold member, you will be needing 1000 pts, that is equivalent to 500$ you put on the rake.

Their promo this September gives 34$ and 5 freerolls if you make 1000 pts. You can also use 750 pts to buy 30$ POKER BONUS, thats 8% rakeback.

That means for every 500$ you contributed to the rake, they only give 64$
back, i think its low for tight grinders.

      Just my opinion...

Wow I must have missed this article somehow. Been wondering why this last week it seems to be taking forever to clear my bonus, now i realize why.

I play mainly pot limit ohama. Often some person starts dumping all the chips in the middle, so you have to wait patiently for a good starting hand and then hope the dumper doesn't get lucky. One of the things that made this more bearable was knowing while you waited for them to lose all their chips you were happy knowing that at least you were getting partypoints for it and clearing your bonus. But now this is gone it makes me think I would be better taking my bankroll back to cake once i have cleared this last bonus. At least i will earn rakeback there while donkey's have a dump.

I know you should play looking for rakeback and bonus points, if you are not winning enough hands then you will probably lose it all in the end anyway. But for a tight player in makes the poker room a lot less attractive.

On the plus side I have notice people are willing to part with more of their money when they are behind in their hand. Coincidence maybe?

      It's about SnG's.

cashgames seem to have an universal 5% rake.
