Given villians hand he may have called an over-bet?

However I'm potentially missing value from weaker hands if I bet too big?

Preflop: Hero is BB with J:spade: , 8:spade:

      Hello Philfox1985,

Well, obviously over-betting is an option. Although what's your plan if the opponent decides to ship it? Against his stack obviously it shouldn't even be a problem to ship it while if he has the 9x he is Calling, also his stats/stack indicate rather be station-like guy might even Call with Tx.

      Best regards.
