      Well, obviously your thoughts are correct. Although I don't understand the idea behind making it so big. :( He may easily even be trapping you. Since as you see even such a player will have hard time Calling the flop with a lot worse while being in 3bet pot. I'd myself bet ~$2 and hope to get called from such hands.
