Hey it seems like you are making your pre flop bet sizes a little too large. When you are bluffing (stealing) how big do you make it pre?

Hey. Mmm.. I 4 bet'd no? It's how I understand it.. Open better up with 4* BB, then 3 bet a raise with a premium hand?

If I was to steal my bets would be the same.. Did I overplay my A,Q?

opening to 4BB is ONLY when you (and most other players) have like 70+bb (and there are many weak players around). In many situations 3BB is better unless you think you will get too many callers. Once you have fewer BB (20-50ish) you should be opening to 2.5x, sometimes even 2.2x or 2x is enough. With only 9BB like in hand 1 you really just want to shove it preflop.

I went and read the strategy section after posting, and read exactly what you've just posted. I'll use this strategy from now on.

So the idea is bet 2.5bb, and make them pay when you hit right. I can just imagine how many times a,rag will be busting my queens :/ hehe

With the AQ hand, blinds are higher & your stack is smaller than with the AK hand, yet you only flat with AK and call Villains shove with AQ. Surely, AKo is a clear 3-bet here, nearly even a 3-bet shove?

As for the pocket eights, perhaps the strength of this hand is underestimated in general? No-one will hit their set against you all the time, this is just poker.

How do you play your PP's & Sets? How does it compare to these guys? <-- Make considerations about your opponents, study them, your game will improve.

      Good luck !

I think at the time with the AQ hand I was wanting someone to come over the top of me, to double up as my stack was looking a bit thin. Fact I lost out to a pair of eights didn't bother me, just re-bought into another.

With the AK, the blinds where lower, I was hoping to hit & then have him bet, hoping to commit him before sending him all in, maybe get a call with Ace, Rag / K,10 => K,Q as I do so often on these tables..

Pairs. Depends on the blinds. Early in the STT I'd bet as I would a A,J+ as the game progresses I'm more likely to call in position or throw away a pair 2,2 => 6,6. 7,7 => 10,10 I'm likely to throw all in if the blinds are high, anything more than this I'll try out playing on the flop, get some monies :)
