I am wondering was my check raise on the turn appropriate. I figured it was the best way of getting more money into the pot. we had played a similar hand previously where I c-bet the flop OOP with air and villain called and raised the turn when I checked.

I know the 9 on the turn gives more draws but I figured it was worth the risk with top two-pair.

Would a check call, check the river, line hoping he would bet again be out of the question. I guess if an ugly river came it would be a tough call if he bet the river

      Hello 0744379,

Depends really what kind of background you had with the guy. Do you expect him to float you loose on Axx boards? Or rather not. Most likely I'd just bet myself than Check/Raise it while against a Check/Raise he may easily fold his Ax hand.

And if you are going to Check then most likely I'd Check/Raise rather than let him see a free card.

      Best Regards.
