      Hey all!

When I get home tonight, I am going to start a little poker diary to track my gameplay. I've been struggling with winning consistantly, though I have only been playing a couple of days. I've got my $50 capital as well as a $50 deposit, currently working towards the first quarter of my bonus.

      Platform: Party Poker
      Game: 10man SnG and Freerolls
      Current Limit: $1
      Current Bankroll: $74.51 :(

      Hi flashystorm!

Where are you from in Canada?

I am in Canada as well and an-ex SNG player (lol).
SNGs are very interesting, don't hesitate to ask me any questions and visit notorious SNG players blogs like lessthanthree, I am sure they will give you ton of useful informations.

I just started playing $1 SNGs too! On stars ($1.50 turbo knockouts)
I've been a winning player so if you need help I could do my best :D
I got it up to $60 in about 4 days. Swings are brutal though, back down to $30 just in one bad day...

      Good luck in the future
      Oh Canada!

I'm in Southern Ontario, currently studying in university. I've been going to our school's poker club for a while now, and have been consistently at the final table (5th one tournament, 7th another, and 9th a third, each of them out of about 50), so I figured I had to be doing something right. Having these strategy articles to fall back on really help though. Thanks for recommending his blog!

Anyway, the first day of this blog is a really good update! Gotta love upswings :) .

      # of tournaments played: 10
      Results: 2 x 1st, 2 x 2nd, 1 x 3rd
      Bankroll: +$5.39 ($79.54 from $74.15)
PP earned: +8 (38 from 30, 50% complete to first $12.50 of bonus)

General commentary: I'm only 2 tabling, but its starting to become boring. I keep finding myself distracted by facebook, youtube, or this site. I'm scared to go up to 3 though, cause I still do find myself missing plays and catching them too late. Maybe I'll start keeping a freeroll up or something to add a little, but not much, complication. I'm starting to get better at reading people I've noticed. As a result, I'm using my notes more and more. I lucked out today because in two of my winning tournaments I was put beside this insane rock. Overall he played like 5 hands, all AQs or better. Ended up feeding me free blinds to carry myself way farther than I should have.

When is it acceptable to stop speculating pocket pairs? And are 8s good enough to call here? what about raise?

I really don't know about this hand. I am desperate for chips here, blinds are massive. I know the charts say fold here, but when I was doing my 1000 hands in ICM hands very similar to this would come up all the time and I'd get them wrong way too often. I'm still gonna say this is a good call, I don't know how much longer I could have waited out the bubble anyway.

I had a read on this guy, he was super tight. Like, we're talking didn't touch a chip it seemed tight. When he flipped, I was actually surprised he was only showing A8o. (Honestly, I think its cause I pushed A8o just two hands ago and he saw me do that, but at the same time that push lost me like 3k chips). With that said, I really didn't want to make this call... with 1.5BB and a pocket pair though, did I have a choice?
