how did i play this hand? i decided to check behind on the turn simply because i didn't want to see a check/raise and i decided to play way ahead/way behind and call a bet on the river. i find it way too easy to lose my stack postflop with overpairs.

I would played the same way. I think turn check is fine, since now it is hard him to call you down with worse hands and you really hate getting c/r on the turn, so better is go for pot control and call his river bet.
If he would checked river I´d valuebet myself, also I´d b/c on blank turn card.

      Hello DrDunne,

I'd rather Bet/Fold the turn again for protection from 1card FD. He wont Check/Raise anyways us without having a hand. :)

      Best Regards.
