I was playing a tourney on 888 and had just been moved to a new table. The button was on the empty seat to my left. The next player had also just joined the table so got no cards. The next player posted the sb and the next the bb.

All normal so far. There were a couple of limpers and I decided to limp also. the blinds join in and I get to see a flop in position.

After the flop I am first to act ??????????

I was playing a couple of other tables and did not notice that the other players had not checked to me. They had not had the chance to act????

I was first to act again after the turn and river.

Anyone got any ideas on what happened here ????

      Hi Fagin,

Not really sure how to respond to this - I would suggest posting the hand history here so we can take a closer look, and go from there.

      Best wishes,

      Danny.

I've noticed, that sometimes, when I get seated to a new table and the hand there hasn't ended, the BU icon is shown there, where it had been in my previous table and at the start of a new hand it's fixed.
Don't think it applies here, though, as the action preflop shows, that you were BU/CO with no BU.

I probably would have checked the flop if I had realised that I was first to act. I just looked at the table when it popped up and saw my position, figured that everybody had checked to me so I bet my 2nd pair.

My surprise at being first to act on the turn caused me to check and then the hand was lost.

The HH shows me preflop, acting after the CO but before the sb, this would normally be the BU, so acting first on the next 3 rounds was weird.

Have you tried contacting their support? I'd love to see what explanation they come up with.

I'm still trying to figure out how they managed to win the "Poker Operator of the Year 2011" award at the EGR Awards...

I have posted the hand on the 888 forum and sent it to their support but as we all know they will take 3-5 days to get back to me.

I have little faith in 888 support as far as poker related issues are concerned. In the past they have fully demonstrated their complete lack of understanding of even the most basic aspects of poker and I expect I will get a reply that will back that up to the hilt.

The reply I got from the 888 forum was -

"Thanks for highlighting this. I have sent it over to our software team to investigate."

I got the usual auto-reply from the support email.

Well I finally got a reply from 888 support :-

"We have located your account and after checking the game history, we cannot find the game/hand you are referring to.

Please check again the exact time you believe these games took place and re-send us the precise details. We require the following:

      1) The time and date of the occurrence
      2) The tournament ID number (or ring Table Name and game type)
      3) The hand number
      4) The exact details of what happened."

It's reassuring to know that they managed to find my account.

I have of course responded with the requested info. I'm not expecting anything more than the usual corporate garbage (not our policy to disclose information .... blah, blah, blah) as a response but we'll see.

With all due respect to 888 staff (and not much respect is due, really) this is just stupid. If you just gave them the hand number, couldn't they find out the other 3 things as well? At least they didn't ask what the weather was like and what you had had for breakfast...

Well I finally got a reply from 888 support. I will quote the most relevant parts below -

"I managed to locate the tournament and hand you were referring to. I checked it move by move in order to understand the nature of the issue.

From what I can see and as you reported you were moved table and put on to the table in question. Now I can understand how you though you were at the Cut off position as there was one more Player after you and between the Small Blind. In multi table tournaments it is common that people are moved around as tables need to be kept with the same number of players to keep everything balanced. We always aim to position you in the same seat order, in reference to the dealer however sometimes this is not possible.

In your case the person after you did register however due to possible late registration or some other reason he never sat at the table. This meant that the dealer button was sent to you. This is the reason why you were always playing first. If you look at the game this way the game history makes perfect sense.

The only error here is that the dealer button for some reason did not show up under you.
      "

As I supplied all the relevant info I'm not exactly impressed that they managed to find the relevant hand.

The whole response just seems to highlight the complete lack of understanding of the game of poker on the part of the support team.

Sort of backs up my earlier post on that score !!

Did you know they actually get paid to write responses like that? That's our rake well spent. :f_thumbsup:

Responses like this one tell me that they have one support team for all of the 888 businesses. This would include the casino games, bingo and lots of other areas.

Obviously a knowledge of poker is NOT a job requirement if you want to work for the 888 support team, it may even count against you !!!
