      villain was very fishy..

is a smallish bet like that on the turn with no draws a tell for a monster hand?

could I really fold my hand on the river?

what hands could have he played like that on the river? maybe KJ, QJ..

      Hello gnawhalak,

Even if you play it this way then how can you Call the river? What do you expect to beat there? He will definitely have an ace there and most likely even FH.

      Best Regards.

      looking into this again..

i guess i should have played for pot control..

i'm thinking that on the river

      check/call - to small bet (1/3 pot)
      check/fold - to bigger bet

would that be a better play?

I don't really see why we should Check/Call. :P Rather Bet yourself and get value.

what type of hands are you trying to protect yourself from the river? your only going to get called with better Ax or FH.

Guess I got messed up with the turn a bit. We definitely ain't called only by Ax hands there after his bet size on the turn. You are just letting him to bet again smallish and missing a lot value if he just has something like Jx.

Why should we even Check/Call it? :D If he doesn't have a hand he is Checking behind, he wont pay much with the bluffs for us. If we Check then if he bets big then your point is to fold directly there. ;) Try also to think about poker and ranges not just guess he is paying only with strong FH just cause you saw him raising the river.
