Hello blogsy people type things, I'm Mal and as the more observant will notice, I am at present a moderator for PokerStrategy.com English Community. It's a cool responsibility and you get to know some really great people (obviously some pre-blog coaching going on there) and I am thoroughly enjoying it - so far!

I'll skip over details in my first post because I'm a waffler and will talk all day given any excuse. Oh and I'm old, I don't know how old though because I'm no good at reading carbon dating graphs.

Played for about four years now at a guess, at various levels and variants, up to nl100 fr. I am not a good player and I find I make the same mistakes on a regular basis, but at least I stick to bankroll management these days; in fact, I'm quite nitty about it.
Anyway, I won't bore my reader [probably my mum] with poker/education/life background, so ask if you'd like to know something.

I have $200 bankroll and will be trying to win enough to marry Mrs Mal by next summer. I'll be starting at nl4 6 max, because it's a Euro site, giving me 151 euros to start.

'bout it really for now. Not very interesting and not much humour, I'm very tired. Expect I'll post something about whatever now and again, maybe even a hand or two. If you're passing you may want to drift in, who knows?

I suppose, given my own disposition, I should import some class instead, so here you go; I hope it works ok:

      Run hot guys.

      BR: 151 Euros

So much blue here guys, whew! Thank you for dropping by. :)

Quick update. Forgot to say the site is Unibet, so multitabling can be awkward as there seems to be no waiting list option. ?( Don't think I will like that after a while.

First session lost a couple of buyins - br: 143.

No real notable hands to post, I just played numpty poker. On the plus side, these guys are bad.

Anyway, here's a pic of my dog cuddling her cushion:

Well I was going to post a couple of interesting/fun hands, but HM2 seems to be playing up.

I lost about 3BI at nl4 and that showed up ok, then won it back at nl10, but it only showed +4.5.
Happened yesterday to, I was up a BI at nl4 but HM2 showed down a BI.

Anyway, upshot is BR 151 Euro again. Sigh.

Maybe the Chevy Chase of poppin' will make it more cheerful.
sorry about the unavoidable cackling witch.

      The mods blog:

When you say old, are you old enough to remember Alison Moyet in Yazoo?

Or old enough to be with the pre internet mods?

      Either way, good luck.

Yes I'm quite old and decrepit now, sigh. Well, according to MrsGadget anyway! I, of course, still think I'm 14. :D

Hi Roo, thank you very much!

Hi trickybob, well I'm not quite old enough to admit to owning one of these monsters!

I remember Yazoo very well, with Vince Clarke (legend) on keys. She was class even at that stage.

Here's an obvious one (ah, memories):

Careful with that 'Yazoo' stuff. It's but a short hop from.....

and then everyone will think you're gay. Not that there's anything wrong with being gay, but it's probably not a good basis on which to build a marriage.

In fairness, if you were that old you'd know my dad ... and he's retired.

I owned, Upstairs at Eric's, on tape and used to listen to it on a Sony Walkman.

For all the yooth, that's what we had back in the day as a portable music carrier. I think you call them ipods these days.

Ah yes, the sony walkman, everybody wanted one. I'm not quite retired yet trickybob, I just feel like I should be.

You could well be right JB, I'll have to look for the signs.

I was going to post some sort of update on my super duper bank roll building, but HM2 has decided to put a spanner in the works by messing up my winnings and losses - haven't had a winning session in a week apparently. Next patch will no doubt repair the damage.

I was also thinking about psychological stuff and how I might post something interesting and deeply analytical about working memory loss and it's effect on microstakes win rates; but then I thought, na, it's nl4 ffs!

So anyway, I'll be back with a graph of my journey so far at the end of the week, HM2 updates permitting naturally.

Have fun all and I'll leave you with the best, playing a tooon...

U2 took over from these? Na.

      and the thought for today...

      Here's a funny hand v a monster stack. Laugh, I nearly bought a round!

Prima, $0.02/$0.04 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 4 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

      Hero (SB): $4.12 (103 bb)
      BB: $0.42 (10.5 bb)
      CO: $4.15 (103.8 bb)
      BTN: $8.78 (219.5 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with Q Q
2 folds, Hero raises to $0.10, BB raises to $0.42 and is all-in, Hero calls $0.20

      Flop: ($0.60) 3 8 6 (2 players, 1 is all-in)
      Turn: ($0.60) T (2 players, 1 is all-in)
      River: ($0.60) 2 (2 players, 1 is all-in)

      Results: $0.60 pot ($0.60 rake)
      Final Board: 3 8 6 T 2
Hero showed Q Q and lost (-$0.30 net)
      BB showed J J and won $0.00 (-$0.30 net)

Hopefully get this fixed soon. Rigged! :D
