PartyPoker is planning a solution for the general sit-out problem especially on the higher stakes. Below you will find their suggestion so far. Feedback is welcome!

Suggested fix for sit out issue:

      10 handed
      - 3 players sat out give them 15 mins to start a game if game not started then
      - 4 or more players sat out 5 mins to start game
      - Give 15 min warning then 1 min warning
      6 handed
      - 3 players 5 mins

Logic for closing the Table, start process during 1 min count down:

      - Leave button where it is offer small and big blind
      - If small does not post remove from table and move button on one position
      - Once clock stats does not matter if player come or leave if no play rules apply
      - Once clock is running if another player sits down clock keeps running
      - Message to be displayed like break message (in tournaments)

Kick them off don’t close table players can’t sit for back in.
Close table after 2nd last player says no to blind.
Once kicked off can’t sit back down unless game restarts.
Make table configurable, both for the time and the number of players.

      Suggestions welcome!

x-post from 2+2, bc it fits rather well:

Jesus, seems like they have made this really complicated.

      1) CHANGE YOUR TOC TO SAYING SITTING OUT IS AGAINST THE RULES AND FAIR GAME PLAY

      2) ISSUE WARNINGS AND HAVE SOMEONE WATCHING THE TABLES. IT IS NOT HARD TO NOTICE PEOPLE THAT DO THIS OFTEN.

      3) BAN PLAYERS THAT ABUSE THE SYSTEM FROM PLAYING FOR 2-7-30 days etc if they continue this behavior, with possibility of permanent ban.

If you don't want to go that route, then make a button sitout on one table sitout on all and sort out the specifics. It really is rather simple, I have no clue why you would be closing a table, when you should be removing and keeping removed players that sitout.

      Official announcement from PartyPoker:

      Hi All,

The following solution will be implemented in an upcoming release (no later than the end of May 2012) to address the issue concerning voluntary sit out/table blocking:

      1. If the game is not starting then after Y minutes/seconds forcefully sit in all the players
      2. Start the game:

      • If the game starts then no action is required
      • If the game does not happen then

      i. Check if the game has not happened for the last X-1 attempts then kick out all the players and shut down the table. A custom message will be shown to the player related to the shutdown of the table
ii. Otherwise repeat from step 1

We are aware that this solution has been overdue (Changes to the regulatory landscape and the merging of Party Gaming and BWIN were creating pressure on resources) and we understand how important this is to all of you.

      Any feedback will be welcome.

I might be a little off, but what's the issue here? What purpose do sitting out have?
