Hello. I don't know how much I should 3bet against those who play 4bb+1bb per limper. Shove could isolate myself against better and with 3xoriginal raise size commits me anyway. Is 2,5x raising fine against unknowns? I can still fold in case of 4bet and if someone calls, I have pot left for cbet. Thanks

      Hello John,

Given the fact that raising 2.5x is giving up 1/3rd of your stack while being -EV vs JJ+,AK+ (29% eq while you need 33%ish), I think raising this small is pretty dire.

I also dont want to raise 40-50% of my stack because if he shoves something like 88, we are just flipping. Instead we want to fold these hands

That said I like to shove preflop if I have to 3bet around 30-33% of my stack. Your main income comes from FEQ while you still have 30% averaged equity if his calling range is only JJ+,AK ( u block QQ/AA,AK)

      Best regards,
      Gerv

Just to see it clearly, would you push it heads up too since 3bet is 1/3 of stack? If our hand was something like QQ+ in this scenario, wouldn't it generate more fold equity than we want? Thanks for your time

      Hey John,

No not in this situation as you want this loose player to call you with AJ-A9,KQ-QJ and other worse broadways

Furthermore there is less deadmoney to win preflop because of only 1 single 4bb openraise
