My question is: should I allways second barrel against an opponent like this for value/protection, or I could ch behind and if he checks the river I could bet for thin value?

I would usually go there pot control. His hand range are more often KK-JJ or some weak Ax hands, than worse hands+ even if he would c/c flop smt like 44 he would likely fold that hand on the turn.
Also you don´t want to b/f hand that has first showdown value and second even if you´re behind against Ax or KK you have 9 outs to improve either trips two pair or straight.

      best regards,
