      Hi all!

for those of you that don't know me I play mainly headsup poker with some 6max and 9max thrown in currently at limits nl100-400 under a stake coaching deal and have been doing so since feb of last year.

Although this is my only source of income its been clear over the last 11 months i havnt put the time and effort in that i really should. (what usually happens is i play 10-15k hands a month make an ok amount and instead of saving anything to build a bankroll of my own or improve equipment, i squander it all on partying..)

recently though i've set 2 mini tasks with the intention of improving my productivity and both where reasonably successful Lockdown and 7 day volume challenge

With the building momentum I felt its time to start a full longterm blog to help me keep track of my progress with the intention of being able to look back and see how my daily pursuits are improving.

      CURRENT GOAL

sooo long time no speak And were back on the grind... This time Its a week project designed to increase my poker playing time dramatically.

      The idea is simple

      • Poker project
      Schedule

       tues: 5 hours
       wed: 6 hours
       thurs: 7 hours
       fri: 5 hours
       sat: 6 hours
       sun: 7 hours
       mon: 8 hours (bonus!)

Aswell as this i will be sticking to the routine i so dramatically failed the last time round + having healthy meals/snacks between playing time.

      These include

      steak
      tuna and pepper
      chicken with salad mix
      omelette with peanut butter
      protein shakes
      protein bars
      apples & yoghurt

      OLD PROJECTS

My next goal may also seem like a small one to most of you but if i get this right will drastically change my approach to my work days resulting in much increased productivity. After giving an honest outline of my day to user Schnitzelfisch in his amazing forum article The quick guide to skyrocketing your (poker) productivity I was given the follwing advice, which from today I will do my best to stick with..

Then, focus on one thing for the next two weeks. Sleeping isn't a bad thing. Well, sleeping 12 hours a day or so probably is... but if you sleep 8-9 hours a day, you'll be fine. I suggest the following, immediate action steps:

      1. Write down the vision and goals.

Repeat the following for the next 14 days:

      2. Before you go to bed, prepare your pc for a project and put it in hibernate
      3. When you wake up, drink a glass of water, eat something (try healthier stuff if possible, at least wholewheat toast with some tuna on it + a piece of fruit)
      4. Read your vision statement and goals
      5. Go for a 10 minute walk
      6. Work on your hardest project for an hour

And then do whatever you want for the rest of the day. starting slow will get you there. As you have already found out, rapid changes usually turn out bad. There are exceptions, but going slow is usually the way to go. The 10 minute walk is probably the hardest part of all of this. But reading the vision statement beforehand should get you going for the first few days, then it will get easier. It's still easier to go for a walk at 4 pm than at 5 am .
No prizes for guessing what the hardest project is and with this post coming to an end it looks as though im able to cross off day 1.

Troubles I found so far with the routine

      1. set the alarm for 5:30 am instead of pm
      2. realised if i were to wake and get up at 5:30 pm that would have been 10 and a half hours rather than the wanted 8 and a half..
      3. wasnt happy eating breakfast because i wanted a shower.. I think ill change the routine to having a glass of water then shower then breakfast from now on
      4. Didnt realise i didnt have a vision statment quickly wrote one that seems suprisingly motivational
      5. had facebook messenger goin mental on my phone read a few messages going to take the app off it..

      13 days left..

Its my second day on this new routine and so far i've had quite a number of changes the major ones would be..

      - i spent next to no time idly browsing fb/ forums
      - i went to bed much earlier and consequently got up earlier too
      - feel awake much faster than before (normally takes 2-3 hours to be fully concious after waking up..)

Problems i found on day 2:

had very intermittent sleep and therefore felt pretty tired on getting up after going to bed for 9 hours

Forgot to take off facebook from my phone. Got beeped at while having breakfast and had a cheeky read. (apps now been deleted)

Also found that on Friday a friend of mine is going clubbing and sunday is my birthday. havnt yet thought of any coping strategies to not break the routine chain

      Any suggestions?

Played about 500 hands of poker last night had 1 big funny hand of note..

      Keep it up.

As for routine breaking, you should know that it doesn't really matter when you wake up. You don't have to wake up at 7 am in order to follow your routine, you can just as easily follow it if you wake up at 2 pm. To prevent being completely without energy in the morning, you should try to drink as much water as possible and eat some fruit/vitamins before you go to bed after the night out.

I actually encourage you to go out 1-2 times a week, have fun and reward yourself for your progress. If you don't want to feel like total crap in the morning, you can also not get completely wasted. And don't even think about not having fun on your birthday ;) .

      Awaiting your today's update.

Went to play a game of snooker with fellow poker player and pokerstragy member HomerJ which led to watching the beyern real footbal match which led to heavier drinking which led to a shot bar which led to a club which led to the casino.. All in all ended up drinking for 13 hours and felt pretty bad when waking up :s_mad:

But for the first time ever i havnt stayed in bed all day WOOP!

although a had a few difficuties, ultimately i stuck to the routine..

      My problems included..

      - waking up and setting the alarm for 30 more minutes manged to get up on the second try.
      - overall took much longer to do each step
      - first rainy and windy walk

with poker again i played around 500 hands including a 3 table match against a reg on stars.

1 hand of note I had was a major cock-up but it did seem to stop him barreling so heavily for there on :s_evil:

Didnt play any poker yesterday as i was kind of hanging badly and went to see some friends that are back in my town for uni.

Ended up going to bed pretty damn early just after midnight and so set the alarm clock for 9am..

Only had 1 real problem with the routine today and that was falling back to sleep after the alarm went off. i woke up again 40 mins after and set it for 10am from there onwards no more problems..

can i ask you who's your staker/coach? dunno if thats godmode , but your last week seems pretty awesome
yea i usually lose about 35-40% of sessions so having a week full of winning ones definately puts it in the region of godmode haha. I'll ask my backer next time i talk if he minds me saying who he is..

i was quite upset about this, meant to go with users Daniel "tribunceaser", Phillip and Thomas (dont know there ps users) but had somekind of fever and didnt wake up till about 1am to lots of texts and all sorts saying where you at.

By then ofcourse it's pointless to say i wouldnt be able to attend seeing as the night would have been well into full swing..

I didnt even know HomerJ was on the list.. I dont even think he was in the country at the time.

From what i was told it was a great night, i hope everyone had a good time, from the pictures it looks like i missed out..

Kinda in a grumpy mood today got some girl problems, but hey the worlds still turning so im still sticking to this routine.

Had very intermittent sleep again i guess its due to the aforementioned problems and was meant to add reading a productivity book for 5-10 mins to the routine but didnt feel like starting something new while in a bad mood..

I plyed about 200 hands of headsup yesterday didnt get any other action than 100nl euro and wasn't up for playing regs but made some profits..

Going to make a 6max/9max video for my coach to help iron out my leaks tomorrow, i guess i could post a link to it here see what you guys think :s_confused:

Im still relatively new to it seeing as my only previous experience would nl5 rush and shortstacking up to nl100 but i feel my postflop game in headsup pots is far stronger than most of the regs already so i think its definitely a profitable venture.

Had a fun night out last night partied till 7am, got home to find my housemate with some guys sleeping in the living room. was too drunk to make head nor tail of it and went straight to sleep.

Got woken up few hours later to find that the people that were sleeping in my living room were infact homeless and had stolen anything of worth that was downstairs when they woke up.

I personally ran good n they didnt get anything of mine but some laptops and wallets were taken so its not soo good..

Thanks to this my routine has been totally ruined today..

Ouch, that's rough. Well, at least nobody's taken any of your stuff, and you've all probably learned a valuable lesson :) .

Regarding your routine, don't beat yourself up. There are going to be some exceptional times when you just won't be able to do it. Don't feel guilty about it, go out and have fun tomorrow, and get back to the routine on Monday :) .

Had a good birthday yesterday, didnt really stick to the routine and basically did whatever I wanted which i guess is fine, had a nice meal with friends and played a donkament homegame.

Routine started badly today took 12 hours to get up rather than the 8-9 and had birthday cake and an apple for breakfast .. oops.

Other than that back on track for the rest of the 14 days.
