I knew villain was fishy, no hands.

Bets looked weak + J on the river makes his bet look even more like air + I assumed that villain can have a thought process like "What a dry board, they're never hitting it, let's bet it with my XX, can't win otherwise".

Was this the lucky case or is my thought process correct?

      Hey man,

the problem against the fish is that without specific reads we can't really have ANY thought process about its play ...

That's why I'd fold here, because ok, we know he's a fish, however, what can of fish? what is his tendencies? ... we don't know! From what information do you want to make the conclusions?

Fish might easily check FH on the turn and play it tricky ... ;) so without reads i'm folding ... I don't like to play guessing game ;)

The very important thing at these situation is AF ofc and his cbet (OTF, OTT) ..
because if he cbets like 80-100% we know he has a lot air on the river ... => easy call

However when he's rather passive (20-35cbet%) he will not have that many air on river so we will not get the proper odds in his combo ratio of bluffs|value ... I'd say :)

      Hope it makes sense, cya

      Hello DeMarcohsp,

Just fold the flop while you might even have reversed implied odds, never know where you stand with your hand and river could be easily just a block-bet with some pair to avoid you betting big. :)

      Best Regards.
