Hey people :D so thought id make a blog to make a fresh start and keep track of my latest challenge, a few of you may know me from cash games coaching session or whatever, most of you will not.

Well my names Alex, im 19 and a student which gives me plenty of time to grind, started playing poker online when I was 17, fulltilt were never bothered about checking your age if you had a debit card xD I started actually taking the game a little more full on when i joined here, bout 4 months ago i moved from SnG/MTTs to cash, everything was going great.

      My NL10 graph

and then i went on tilt after losing a few BI from bad beats.... and what better way to deal with tilt and take a shot at NL25 :f_biggrin:

Which ended in veriz laughing at me :f_biggrin: and me realising id been an idiot taking a weeks break from poker

I need something new, something exciting so here i am with my challenge of crushing the HU hyperrrrrrrrrrrrrrs :f_biggrin: Id never played these before and have been learning these from scratch, lets see how it goes

I have 2 weeks of exams, then 2 weeks off before i go away for 3 weeks, so pokerwise, we will see how it goes, first exams first, so duno how much poker ill be playing this week, but what better way to slack of revision :f_biggrin:

Outside of poker, im currently studying business management and economics at nottingham trent uni, Im a 2nd dan (degree) black belt in Shotokan katare which ive been doing for about 13 years now, I train with east midlands university officer training corp, but i just do it for the chance to go like skiing, rock climbing, piss ups etc. dont plan on joining the army, and i probably drink too much but ahh well :f_biggrin:

Glad to see you decided to start your own blog!
Blogs are great for keeping track of your personal progress in my opinion.

About the poker: Who hasn't taken a rageshot at higher stakes to recoup losses at one point or another(and another.. and another.., don't take BRM advice from me if I'm offering personal opinions, stick to our standard material!), the important thing is to learn from it, once is OK if it cements the knowledge that "This was how NOT to do BRM.."

Returning to the personal staff, I'm very happy to hear you prioritize studies over play, there'll be plenty of time to invest in poker after the exams are over! Keep us updated on how you do in them.

      Will be following for sure.

      Regards,
      Richard

yeahhhh frukt I try to keep fairly go BRM but I was able to control tilt till that happened then bang, ahh well least ill take the experience of my improved game plus learning my lesson (untill the next time) of not rage going up to higher stakes

Well im trying to priortise my studies but its so hard, because HU HTs are new and exciting and theres so much new stuff im tryign to learn im a tad addicted ;) but yeahh off to meet a mate to revise then i wont slack off, just played a few games before i left, won 4 lost 2

Some guy made the sickest call ever, i just ended up laughing, either he could see my hole cards or really really didnt like folding a pair

floated the flop with A high showdown value and backdoor FD, when he 1/5 of the pot he like never has much of a hand, so i raised the turn which is just called, when he checks the river hes never got a queen here, so i shoved, as its pretty hard for him to call without a 7, Q and like at least an 8 and obviously 44 is a snap call haha :f_biggrin: ahh i love 888

Anything shiny and fast tempts me :D

TBH never bothered in HU cash but have played a few HU Hyper-Turbos. Variance was sick though. Prefer 6max or FR.

888 should be fairly fishy so hope to see plenty of rising giraffes!

Managed to sqeeze 25 games into today, up a few BI, cant wait to move to stars 888 rake is absurd for hyper turbos, $3+0.2 for 888, $3.4+0.1 for stars, massive difference, even the $7 hypers have less rake....

You play on 888 ? I think everyone who´s serious about hypers plays on Stars. Correct me if I´m wrong but the rake is significantly higher there. In hypers you have very small edge anyway, e.g. winning 54% of matches and you can consider yourself world elite.

I´d really recommend you to move on Stars or the rake will eat you alive ;)

nope your 100% right, im currently in the process of moving to stars, ive took half my BR out of 888 eariler today, which will take 4/5 days to get to skrill and then deposit that and stars and withdraw the rest from 888, its only so i can play in the mean time.

The rake is double what it is on stars for a smaller buy in its complete ridiculous, like today without rake i was up 3BI, with rake i was only up just above 1, but i have the FDB on 888 which im not gunna bother clearing but thats given me rakeback so meh, suppose just have to look on the bright side their most of the people are fishes ;) even though half the people i play are regs

      Hey Castle93!

      Welcome to the blogging section!

      First of all HUHT :o
One question though, you said you tilted after losing a couple of BI's and then went to nl25 to waste some more money. Are you mentally ready for these hypers? Well it's your call of course :p but I wouldn't be able to keep my cool with that sick variance!

Secondly: You play on 888poker? I want my money back!! :f_biggrin: I play there as well. nl6 SH and nl10 SH.

Good luck with the exams and with the HUHT!

Hey ras :D thanks buddy, I was playing SH at 888, i wont be there for much longer the rake is so sick for the hypers, its more than DOUBLE stars, im only here untill i the other half of my BR coming into skrill so i can depo on my stars account :D meh i hope it was just a one time thing because i dont usually tilt but we ll see i guess :f_p:

Gary, Smashed the exam today, really happy thanks for wishing me luck

Some interesting hero calls against a reg which ive played quite a few games on and had some pretty good reads, see if yu can pick up the trend of my read ;)

J high :D I was like 95% he was bluffing and he can be bluffing with like pretty much anything here so i figured J highs ahead of his bluffing game enough, only have to be right 1/5 times
