my laptop is a dell inspiron 1545 (only has a VGA socket - no HDMI) and the monitor is a LG flatron E2250V. i have a VGA to HDMI cable going from my laptop to the monitor but other than that i can't get the screens to connect. i would like to extend the monitor from the pc to the laptop. is it possible?

      Hey DrDunne,

I may be able to get you some assistance if you still need it ;)

What Operating System are you using?

      Hey there DrDunne :)

I connect to my TV using my Laptop, it real simple for me :)

Here is the exact name of the cable I bought of Ebay:
LAPTOP PC to LCD TV Lead SVGA Monitor Cable 1.8M
Put this in and many come up.

I then bought a 3.5m Jack for sound, not the best quality but it works a treat for my needs.

Come to around £10-£15 for them both, depending how long you want them.

Hopefully that help you out :)

hey matt thanks for the info. i spoke with thazar earlier but i think the problem might be with the cable i have. i'll get on ebay and check that cable out. only thing is mine is not a TV it's a pc monitor..
