Hey, guys. My name is Walter and I play nl50 on WPT.
A few words about my poker career: 3 months ago I started playing nl10 on 888 with $300 under "cashier" button and the same amount as the first deposit bonus. I beat nl10, nl20 and nl30. When it was time to move higher, I decided to change site, because 888's highest rakeback is 19%, and the rake I made was already tangible. It was impossible to reach Poker Stars' Supernova by the end of the year, so I chose PartyPoker network. WPT gave me $500 as a welcoming bonus, and here I am, playing nl50 full ring.
      Here's my graph (nl10+nl20+nl30)

Current nl50 graph will be posted later.
I created this blog to find some friends in the world of poker, some people holding the same views. I think it's the main purpose. I will also write about music and the movies I like.
So, see you guys at the tables. I hope I didn't bother anyone too much.

      nice graph mate :)
I am playing NL20/30 on 888poker myself, and planning to take my first shot at NL50 soon, so I will be definatly following your blog :) I play SH though, FR is too nitty for a maniac like me :f_biggrin:
so you only moved out of 888poker because of the poor reward system ? you don't think that the poor player's level compensate for that ?
you can check my blog if you want, any advice or feedback would really help since you clearly crush the limits I play :s_grin: link to my blog

Welcome to our blogging section Walter!

Congratulations on reaching NL50 so quickly, that's quite a nice feat!

How come you're playing FR over SH? I'm an action junkie myself and I find SH is much more suited to the aggression and all that which I prefer, love hearing why others prefer what they do though, it's interesting to hear different approaches, don't you think?

Anyway, will be following your progress for sure!

      Regards,
      Richard

      Thank you, guys!
Actually, I had a tremendous downstreak after I started my blog. I'm not superstitious and all that, I just find it funny. They say blog is +EV :)
But the situation is really sad now. If I lose a few more stacks, I'll have to return to nl25..
Now, why do I prefer full ring? Well, I guess that playing at 9 tables with 18\12 (vpip\pfr) or looser I don't feel any lack of action or aggression. I think that's it. Anyway, I often play 6-max in the morning, when I can't open enough FR tables.
so you only moved out of 888poker because of the poor reward system ? you don't think that the poor player's level compensate for that ?

booomm, that's a good question. And very difficult as well. All I know is that I made $2k rake a month, and I thought that it would be great to return at least 30% of it. Another reason for moving out is that there are only 3-5 nl50 FR tables (I play 1:00-7:00 a.m, 3:00-5:00 p.m.).
I will certainly read your blog when I have time for it, but I really consider myself a crappy player, so I would't advise you anything ;)

traffic on FR tables is really low on nl30+ I've noticed, but that's because most fish like SH.. I think most FR tables are reg infested on 888 at least compared to SH.
anyway, good luck at recovering from your downswing, hope you won't have to drop down stakes, I know that sucks, just so boring :f_biggrin: so good luck at the tables :)

Thanks, I'm returning to the tables today after two days break, and I will definately need that :)
To make this blog more personal (I don't know why should I do it though), I'll say a few words about myself: I'm 23 and I am an English teacher (this language is foreign for me; graduated from the university last year), who works as a hot line specialist in the "Johnson & Johnson" company (technically it's "Teleperformance" - a company that provides contact-centre services). We work with glucometers (people suffering from diabetis need this device extremely). I'm overqualified for that kind of job, but I still don't want to teach English^^ As soon as I feel like it, I can get a job in some school, university or private courses.
I work nights, so my day regimen is weird. I play nights too.
Je parle le francais un peu aussi, mais cette langue est tres difficile pour moi.
I guess that will do for today:)
In conclusion, one of my favourite poker jokes) (not mine)
SCOOP! A man in coma has been making a profit for 3 months, plaing at a very neat nl10 table!
      here's one more:

I played my longest session ever, almost 5.5 hours non-stop. Not the best one tho

Nevertheless, the number is green. I needed that desperately. Now I've almost regained confidence, that's good.
There was a spot I found difficult:
the guy is reg 21/16/35/59 (vpip/pfr/steal/fold to 3bet)

      Grabbed by Holdem Manager
      NL Holdem $0.50(BB) Replayer
      Hero ($75.47)
      BB ($14.25)
      UTG ($53.54)
      UTG+1 ($32.92)
      CO ($76.58)
      BTN ($20)

      Dealt to Hero 4:club: 5:club:

fold, fold, CO raises to $1.50, fold, Hero raises to $5, fold, CO calls $3.50

      FLOP ($10.50) 6:heart: 7:heart: 2:club:

Hero bets $5, CO calls $5

      TURN ($20.50) 6:heart: 7:heart: 2:club: T:heart:

Hero checks, CO bets $12, Hero raises to $28, CO folds

      Hero shows 4:club: 5:club:

      Hero wins $42.28

Actually, I was hoping that he would reraise on flop, then I would reraise him back. He just calls and then bets on turn, and I don't like my move here. Any opinions?

      Here's the sweetest moment
      Grabbed by Holdem Manager
      NL Holdem $0.50(BB) Replayer
      SB ($43.65)
      BB ($53.67)
      UTG ($50.89)
      Hero ($107)
      UTG+2 ($58.35)
      MP1 ($50.14)
      CO ($24.68)
      BTN ($19.25)

      Dealt to Hero 9:club: 9:diamond:

fold, Hero raises to $1.50, fold, fold, fold, fold, SB calls $1.25, fold

      FLOP ($3.50) 3:spade: Q:spade: Q:diamond:

SB checks, Hero bets $1.50, SB calls $1.50

      TURN ($6.50) 3:spade: Q:spade: Q:diamond: 9:spade:

SB checks, Hero bets $4.63, SB calls $4.63

      RIVER ($15.76) 3:spade: Q:spade: Q:diamond: 9:spade: 9:heart:

SB checks, Hero bets $100 (AI), SB calls $36.02 (AI)

      SB shows Q:heart: 4:club:
      (Pre 28%, Flop 92.6%, Turn 15.9%)

      Hero shows 9:club: 9:diamond:
      (Pre 72%, Flop 7.4%, Turn 84.1%)

      Hero wins $84.80

And this hand is just funny. BB squezzes like 11%, and I decide to call, knowing that a fish sitting next to me will definately call too. SB is neat, he set mines, I'm sure. Then, after SB and BB check, I know they have got nothing, and try to steal the pot:)

Huge downswing, I'm returning to nl25. What the heck, I'm strong enough to get over it.
Good news is that I'm going to Lisbon soon. I'll see one of my favourite bands, Radiohead, performing live. I also like The Kooks very much. The initial goal of this trip was music fest, but now I'm longing to see the ocean and lots of other stuff.

Been to Austria, went skiing, here's a photo

Actually, this is my nl50 graph on WPT. Then I went to nl25 and it was even worse. And then I ran away. Just fled, you know, escaped, leaving that awful place for good. Wouldn't even launder my $500 first deposit bonus. Found some quiet place and licked my wounds for a couple of days.
When I got my shit together, I returned to dear 888. And then I took back every cent I'd lost for a few days. I've played 12k hands with 15/100 winrate. Well, of course it is an upswing, but who cares. The main thing is that I got my money back. Now I'm already starting to add nl50 tables.
So, it was a useless month, which got me exactly where I'd already been, but I learned my lesson. I won't pursue the rakeback anymore, at least not before I reach some really major limits. I will not ski in my life as well..
