Just found out there's a live No Limit Omaha tournament starting up weekly where I live, I've played a little bit of PLO but I think NLO would be absolutely crazy. It is part of a national pub poker league, so I imagine there will be a lot of drunk people going mental with four cards and not much idea of how they should be playing.

This being said, I too have no idea how you'd go about playing No Limit Omaha. I'd imagine a very very tight preflop range, the problem is people would be getting it in so often preflop cause the hands are never truly dominated like in holdem. As long as things were getting to postflop, having a very tight hand range would be very advantageous I think.

NL Omaha H/L is crazy, so this would be insane.
Would you always open shove aces here or how would this be played? Fairly sure I don't have the cojones to play it for any big stakes.

Even in PLO it seems that people are all-in quite enough.
If all-ins become far too common pre-flop, then any advantage you might have in post-flop play is out the window.

You might as well roll dice for stacks

Edit: When I wrote this post I thought the original post was about NL Omaha Hi/Lo, not NL Omaha Hi only. NL Omaha Hi only sounds crazy. End edit.

There is some sense to the game. As I remember it, quite a few played (higher than micro stakes) it at Full Tilt. The game is not awfully complicated, unless the stacks are extremely deep, except that you must know the math, not in theory, but in practice.

The mistake people usually make is to go for a poor draw (like draw to a nut low, or even sometime just to continue with a made nut low), or they go all in with "only" flopped nuts without redraws. It's like PLO, except that mistakes are enhanced. If you flop, say, a nut straight and then get it in very very deep on the flop, then you are basically playing for a split of half the pot unless you have a redraw (flush or full), or at least something for the other half. This can be exploited. The problem is that you may have to wait for very long to get a playable hand. Then, you might still get unlucky.

The above applies 100%, of course, only if we are talking full ring. Playing AAxy isn't automatic even in PLO, but I am to bad to fold it.

For the record: The worst hand I've ever played was with AAxy with more money than I was comfortable with. Multiway, the flop came bad. So - I folded. What I missed was that I had like $6.77 left in my stack and there was about the gross national product of China in the middle. The AA would have stood up. :f_frown:

If you really really want to go for a roller coaster ride, then you should play Pot Limit 7-Stud.

One casino in the city where I live gets a 5/10 No limit Omaha high game going once in a while. Usually the game breaks in a couple on hours b/c the majority of players have lost their money. IMO, it is a stupid game and is pretty much rolling the dice for stacks tho I have never played it.
