I was down $5 and was on tilt so I reviewed some hands and shut poker down.

But I suddenly felt an urge to play and felt super focused. Sure enough, I went back and made $45 more =) yaaay.

This hand sure helped. I nearly forgot about my old friend the overbet.

      PokerStars - $0.10 NL ZOOM - Holdem - 9 players
      Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

      BTN: $10.00
      SB: $10.73
      BB: $4.95
      UTG: $8.75
      UTG+1: $17.39
      UTG+2: $10.25
      Hero (MP): $40.87
      MP+1: $15.68
      CO: $26.63

SB posts SB $0.05, BB posts BB $0.10

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.15) Hero has J:heart: K:heart:

fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to $0.30, MP+1 calls $0.30, fold, BTN calls $0.30, fold, fold

Sort of loose open but there were several fish at the table and it plays well if suited.

      Flop: ($1.05, 3 players) Q:heart: A:club: T:diamond:
      Hero bets $0.50, MP+1 calls $0.50, foldt

Flop the nuts vs more than one opponent. How wonderful! I bet half pot since I'm not scared of anything at the moment.

      Turn: ($2.05, 2 players) 9:heart:
      Hero bets $1.80, MP+1 calls $1.80

Beautiful, basically a blank by my books.

      River: ($5.65, 2 players) 2:spade:
      Hero bets $14.00, MP+1 calls $13.08 and is all-in

Another blank. Now he quickly called the turn so I know he's strong. He literally insta-calls this river with his hand. I loved every second of it :)

Hero shows J:heart: K:heart: (Straight, Ace High) (Pre 46%, Flop 97%, Turn 91%)
MP+1 shows A:diamond: 9:spade: (Two Pair, Aces and Nines) (Pre 54%, Flop 3%, Turn 9%)
      Hero wins $30.38

      I love you overbet :D

      Hello FlashDavin,

You should still Bet the flop bigger but otherwise seems to be fine. If you doing overbets in correct spots they are working very often as a huge profit.

      Best Regards.

What size would you suggest on the flop? More like 2/3 since they often connect as well?

I'm no judge, but I'd say even more than 2/3rds, because of how often they hit something. Maybe 3/4's or something. If they fold to the flop bet, they weren't gonna pay you off anyway.

Hm, but do you think he makes it to the river with his A9 here if I bet something around 3/4?

I figure I am looking to collect some value on the flop but also letting them try to catch up on the turn by maybe spiking trips or a 2nd pair.

I think that 2/3 is probably the correct sizing in most scenarios though. So maybe like 65-70 cents on the flop would be ideal.

We can easily even go for .80+ here cause if he has a hand it's going to Call us. :)
