In a 2 hour session, tonight, Sidekick reported 313 hands, HM2 reported 429

I had 4 tables of NL 2 going, though not always the same tables.

Both Sidekick and HM2 had the session time correct.

At the end of the session, after I noticed this, I watched for a couple of orbits on the last two tables, but did not notice any hands going missing.

      Hey VorpalF2F,

does the HM2 counter include hands with no hero action?
This could explain the difference you noticed.

PokerStrategy.com SideKick does not track hands where you are sitting out or waiting for the big blind (for example).

I played a 2nd 200 hands on only two tables, and they were both correct.

I'll have a look again tonight.

Alright - just be aware that PokerStrategy.com SideKick only tracks hands with a hero action of any kind.

      OK, it happened again tonight.
I wasn't paying close attention, until I flopped quad 6s, but did not get a quad kick. The hand fulfilled the qualifications.
I posted it in the hand of the day thread

At that point, I checked the numbers and HM2 was way ahead.

At the end of the session,
      HM2: 368 hands in 1:48
      Sidekick: 271 hands in 01:32
The "missing" 16 minutes would not account for 97 hands.

I only played one continuous session, took no breaks, and played the same 4 tables beginning to end.

Alright, thanks for those perfect statistics. Please send a logfile export via email to application-services[at]pokerstrategy[dot]com and we will have a look at it asap.

      Thanks!

      Update:

      I ran another session tonight.
      HM2 says 209 hands.
      Sidekick says 191

The gap was only 1 shortly after starting.
It grew gradually as time went on.

I did close one table and replace it with another partway through.
Next time I do that, I'll sit out on that table until all the hands catch up.
I got quads again tonight (yay), and I DID get the kick, however it seemed quite some time between getting the hand and getting the kick.

      This morning:
4 tables continuous. No table changes, no breaks.
      HM2: 280 hands, 1:05 duration
      Sidekick: 230 hands, 1:05 duration

I will send the log files from this morning only to the address you gave previously.
      Would the hand histories help?

Yes, the hand histories of your latest session would help us.

      Thank you.

We will investigate this behaviour and get back to you as soon as possible.

      Hi,
The update this morning appears to have resolved this.

HM2 and SideKick were different as the session progressed -- by as much as 7 hands at one point -- but by the end they were the same.

      Regards,

I was playing 4 tables tonight, and again the hand counts were different, and the difference grew as the session progressed.

On a hunch, I closed all tables except one that had "(Beginner)" in the table name.

At that point, sidekick stopped updating altogether, but HM2 continued to record hands.

At the end, however, the discrepancy was 6 more than the total of hands on the "beginner" table

In the second session, I avoided tables with "beginner" in the name.
The hand counts kept pace until I sat out on one table for several hands.

At that point, the hand counts began to diverge.
At the end of the session, I closed all tables except the one I had sat out on.

Sidekick's hand count remained the same, whereas HM2's continued to increase.

So it looks like there is two separate problems, because in the first session, I did not sit out at any of the tables -- it was one continuous session beginning to end.

I will zip up the sidekick logs and the hand histories, and forward them to the usual address.

      Hi VorpalF2F,

we have investigated this issue and need you to help us one more time.

Please play a session on Poker770 without HM2 running in the background. Play about 200 hands and start HM2 after you have stopped playing.
Use PokerStrategy.com SideKick to count your hands and stop untill you reached about 200.

Save the logfiles for this session as well as the 200 hands and import them in HM2 afterwards.

      Please report back your findings.

      Thank you
      Markus

      Hi,
      I oompleted 260 hands tonight.
I had intended to start HM2 at the 200 hand mark, but for some reason it wanted me to re-register.

I save the hand histories to a separate folder, because Poker770 deletes them if you close the lobby, so I did manage to import them manually once the session was done.

For this session I included a beginner table, and I also sat out at least one orbit on a non-beginner table.

The short story is that the hands recorded by both SK and HM2 matched exactly.

I will email the zip file of the sidekick log, hand histories and the hand count spreadsheet to the usual address.

I noticed that when HM 2 is running, the hand histories are removed periodically as play goes on, and archived by Holdem Manager

Could it be that HM 2 is whacking 'em before Sidekick gets to take its peek?

I need to let HM 2 archive them, because Poker770 deletes them when the lobby closes -- maybe even when the table closes.

      Hi VorpalF2F,

As far as Poker770 is concerned, we'd like to let you know that, in order to have the history of the hands you played stored in your computer, you need to enable the option "Store Hand History Locally". To do so, all it takes is to access "Settings" , go to "System" and then tick the option in question.

Furthermore, we cannot take any responsibility for the way in which third party software, such as HM2 and Sidekick, works when used on our poker client.

      Best regards,

      Yoanna

Hi, good to know Poker770 has representation here.

The setting "Store Hand History Locally" does not store them permanently, as near as I can tell.

      I have a folder called:
      D:\Poker\Poker 770\History\PSRnnnnnnnn\Table
      Where the hand histories go.

This folder seems to empty itself even if HM2 isn't running.

      Is that by design?

      Thanks,

      OK, my bad.
I turned of HM2 archiving, and the hands do not disappear when the lobby closes.

This is strange, because I am sure I turned on archiving because they were.

In any case, I played 100 hands this afternoon.
I had some beginner tables in the mix -- if you remember at one point they were not captured at all.

Both HM2 and Sidekick recorded the same number of hands.

I will do one more trial, where I sit out for a few orbits then sit back in to see if that has any effect -- it seemed to have had an effect previously.

Apologies for putting you through all this...

My second session today, also showed complete agreement between Sidekick and HM2 hand counts.

I sat out on one table for about two orbits.
At least one table was a beginner table.
I closed one table, and opened another.
      HM2 Archiving was off
