has anyone gotten the Sidekick to run in a VM? I use Linux as my desktop OS, and VirtualBox to run a Win7 (64 bit) VM under which I play poker. The Sidekick is crashing without even giving me a log in screen...the error indicates that the problem is occuring in the Virtual Display Driver...what on earth is this software doing at such a high graphic level that it crashes the driver?????

I originally tried to install Sidekick on a WinXP VM...no long in screen, no errors, absolutely nothing other than the initial splash screen...I left it running for 12 hours to see if it would get any further, but nope....

      OK...got it!

The problem is the Virtual Box 3D Accelerated video driver.

In both my WinXP and Win7 virtual machines I can now run Sidekick. Too bad I didn't think of this last month during the "win with quads" promo...I missed out on at least 5 entries....maybe I'll get a couple this month with the "win with jacks" promo.

      In summary:

      1) WinXP - initial splash screen would show up but never go any further - no error messages, nothing in the event logs, nothing in the Sidekick logs.

      2) Win7 - Sidekick would generate an error in the 3D Accelerated driver for Virtual Box as indicated above.

Sidekick runs fine in the VMs as long as 3D is disabled...hopefully poker rooms run OK....will test tomorrow and post just in case anybody cares....

OK...so...disabling 3D acceleration doesn't seem to have slowed Everest down at all...hard to really tell though since I am remoting in to my home computer from work to play ;-)
