      I decided not to continue oop after his raise, but am wondering what would be the best move here..

      I would shove to his raise on the flop with those stats. His possible holdings are 8x 7x flush draws, made straight, straight draws two pair or trips, mostly 8x though, so I think you are way ahead of his range.
