      Very loose-passive opponent.

On the flop I decided to lead out, because it was very unlikely it hit villain. On the flop I decided to check/call because I made top pair, which is likely to be the best hand. I didn't want to get 3bet bluffed off of it, so I didn't raise to protect against draws. On the river the bet just looked very weak to me, being so small, so I decided to call.

How could/should I have played this any differently, against an unknown?
