my question here is not necessarily regarding 22 alone, but more so all pocket pairs <99. im starting to understand now how set mining in SH games is not very profitable, and especially while being OOP. so although i'm getting good odds to set mine, is it really a good thing to do here?

this sort of situation is happening a lot - i set mine, i miss and i check fold. villain is kinda fishy but only over 42 hands. but his stack size and ratio of VPIP : PFR indicates he is somewhat loose and aggressive. means i don't have any fold equity if i want to turn my hand into a bluff otf - not that i would do that anyway!

is my play alright? or should i be thinking more along the lines of 3bet or fold here?

i have read that with pairs <66 it is often better to either 3bet or fold. thats because if i set mine, i will often just miss the board and i have practically no showdown value.
